So, this is extremely nit-picky of me, but I have been seeing it non-stop the past few weeks... Why, oh why, do people write "loose" instead of "lose"? Does this drive anyone else bonkers?
Loose is what your clothing will be after you lose 5 pounds.
Just had to get that out of my system :P
I am so sorry if this offended anyone! This is absolutely not directed at anyone who speaks English as something other than their first language. Even for those who do, I realize, as someone kindly pointed out, that it is nothing more than ego that makes me irritated at something as simple as a grammatical/spelling error. I'm working on that :) Thank you for the replies everyone, they helped me look at things differently, and reminded me that I need to choose my words and comments more carefully!

I personally find it strange that anyone would have a problem with people making grammatical errors(unless you are a school teacher grading students:), especially if you know what they mean. Nothing wrong with pointing out those errors in a helpful, humble way, but being annoyed by it is kind of an elitist attitude. You never know what kind of educational background a person has, and because you have had the privilege of being taught proper grammar doesn't mean that everyone else has...
In addition, some people truly don't see the importance in being grammatically correct (me), as long as I understand what someone is trying to say and am understood in what I am saying I am satisfied:)
Anne has clarified her position well in her update and recent posts throughout this thread. I think plenty of useful thoughts have been shared, and it's time to move on for us all.
One thing I know for sure: I'll cirtanely be mor karefool of mi spellyng in teh fyooture!
