Hi! Okay, so previous to me being vegan over a year ago, my family and I fed my dog really awful food which led to her being obese. At this point she is obese still, and I've had her on natural balance vegan dog formula, but she still is gaining weight. I'm really afraid I am going to loose my dog to health issues that could be preventable. Does anybody have any tips on helping reverse obesity in a dog?
I also want to mention my dog is 10 (almost 11) years old, and she should weight 8-10 pounds but is almost 20. It may not seem like much, but she is a medium sized poodle, so her current weight is very dangerous.
I'm very sad it has gotten to this point and will do anything to regain my dog's health, I would hate to loose her to what could be preventable.
You'll find many resources here for how to shift your dog's diet effectively:
This article says that overweight pets are usually overfed and under-exercised.
Thanks! I do exercise my dog, so I know it's from the past foods we fed her before I was a vegan.
You could ask ednshell. She water fasted her dog.
