30 Bananas a Day!

I am interested in starting the HCRV diet, but still have some questions about what's optimal/healthy when following this lifestyle.

How much variety is necessary in the HCRV in order to be healthy? I'm a college student and it's a been a bit difficult finding a large variety of fruit at our campus dining hall. We tend to have whole oranges, bananas, apples, and sometimes pears, but usually we only have 2-3 types of fruit. We also have a slices of melon in our salad bar, as well as the other salad bar veggie options, but it tends to be the exact same every day. How many different foods do experienced raw vegans out there eat, or need to eat? 5 different things every day, and switch it up every day? What are your thoughts?

Thank you!

Hmmm.

I'm not experienced, but I usually have:

2-3 varieties of orange
1-2 varieties of apples
Bananas
dates
2 varieties of greens
1-3 varieties of berries

Each day.

Granted, some people do banana island for like... a month or more; I'd assume that even a small variety is still good :)

Thank you for your reply!

How long have you been HCRV? Do you seem to be getting along fine with these foods?

I would suggest eating 1 or 2 different fruits a day in large quantities, then mix it up everyday with a different fruit while keeping it mono. So on Monday eat a lot of bananas and apples, then the next day eat bananas and oranges, then the next day eat bananas and pears.

Then again, I doubt you'll hear a cow complaining about eating grass 24/7

to cassie.i like the cow not complaining eating grass 24/7

but do we know how many different grasses she eats on pasture?

or is it good or even possible for the cow to eat only one type of grass all the time?

does anybody know?

I like what you said, Meadow Flower. These are my thoughts too. Anybody out there can testify how much a certain amount of variety affects them?

Cassie, have you been eating this way, or ever eaten this way, in the manner you described? If so, for how long?

nature provides nice variety for us

when something is sweet  lay into  it until its gone from the stores  or no longer sweet

then mother nature presents another seasonal  fruit masterpiece

Maria-Adriana.

Banana boy said it.Mother nature has provided the variety.Just the same as from month to month the plants in cowpasture change (conveniently under the cow 's feet) and grow differently, small and big with flowers and seeds. The change may not be apparent from day to day though. There is always some sort of 'seasonality' going on,which ca be interpreted as 'availability' on shop shelves as well these days of quick transport.

There is/was(?) a woman in South Africa,I think her name is Essie Honiball one of the earliest fruitarians, who believed that there was a fruit for each month. And she followed suit. She also wrote a book about it.

She seemed generally to eat very little (not recommended on 30-bad)!!There s a video ab her where she says 'to have eaten from the same pawpaw for two weeks!!!(I wonder how fresh was the pawpaw then).I would not go as far as her idea of variety and quantity.Yet she seemed to be very healthy after having been very sick when young.(and sad).

PK always refers to 30 bad guidelines that say one should eat a variety OVER TIME.(Which perhaps seems too general.if one is looking for specific answer).Obviously you may be worried whether you are getting all the nourisment from available fruits.

I personally found that when my tastebuds had compleately changed to really taste the flavor helped me to judge quality and quantity better and have less anxiety and be certain of my choice vs the SAD crap. There are changes in my body, too numerous to mention here why I was convinced of getting better nourished than previously.

Can someone answer my question here.

If I were to eat and enjoy only one kind of fruit, changing it only every 2 days and 2500 cals of it per day, for the rest of my life, would I still be considered 30 bad (provided I also ate my greens)? And that would mean ANY fruit! Or are there some "better' fruits than other, that I should be eating?Thank you.
