Beautiful Banana friends I need your advice! I am very low on funds and nanny part time but just got offered a waitressing job! I really love waitressing and the hospitality industry but the thing is this place specialises in serving Ribs and steak and fries, although its quite a classy restaurant by the beach. Its funny as I would love to raise the money to pay for further education to work in the holistic natural therapy industry and combined it with my yoga and fitness but would taking this job be a ridiculous move, on one hand money is money and its easy money and what I earn I can put to good use! but on the other hand would I be supporting something that is wrong??? aaa so hard!!! :s please help xx
That has happened to me! Not with lava lamps but other stuff. Lesson learned! Big time.
Dont be part of the problem ( endless meat restaurants) be part of the solution.
I quit my job at a chocolate shop cuz the smell of dairy made me so sick at the end of my working days I would have trouble breathing ( I did find out I'm lactose intolerant there)
And I could not deal with the visions of abused dairy cows any longer. They would hunt me.I feel great now :)
One of my first jobs was (oh horrors) at McDonalds over 30 years ago. Now that I'm vegan and I know that each restaurant burger represents a piece of rainforest the size of my kitchen being destroyed I could never be associated in any way with that racket. 60-70% of Brazil's annual lost rainforest is caused by cattle ranches for beef sold to US.
Been there, done that and it's not worth it. If you got offered that job, other jobs will come.
I have been tight on funds many times and have thought about this dilema. And I decided these simple things:
-I don't like smelling that stuff and having that smell on me, why does getting paid make this something I'm willing to do?
-By working for a place that serves meat, I'm supporting the industry that mass murders animals. I'm continuing the demand by bringing it to tables.
-As much as I try to be non-judgmental, I will be giving people the sideways look after seeing them week after week.
-I have no problem representing my lifestyle, but I do have a problem defending it on the daily which happened every time I worked in meaty restaurants.
I'm a part-time nanny, also. Yaaayyy!
Don't settle. Only go for what you want in life!
