Beautiful Banana friends I need your advice! I am very low on funds and nanny part time but just got offered a waitressing job! I really love waitressing and the hospitality industry but the thing is this place specialises in serving Ribs and steak and fries, although its quite a classy restaurant by the beach. Its funny as I would love to raise the money to pay for further education to work in the holistic natural therapy industry and combined it with my yoga and fitness but would taking this job be a ridiculous move, on one hand money is money and its easy money and what I earn I can put to good use! but on the other hand would I be supporting something that is wrong??? aaa so hard!!! :s please help xx
im 16 and work at a burger joint and a Mexican restaurant. yes, its disgusting and somewhat hyprocritical, but its not your CAREER. if you were saying "should i continue pharmacy school?" that would be a different story, cause thats an actual career really killing millions of people everyday. i would rather work at a farmers market or a yoga studio too, but we cant wait around for the perfect minimum wage job. we need money. as long as this is just a temporary job i say its okay.
plus, you said it yourself. your using the money made from this job to put to good use! so there! its OKAY! durianrider and freelee use electricity by using their laptops to make youtube videos, but its for a good CAUSE. to help others be more healthy, eco friendly, know about veganism and 801010, etc.
You are asking the wrong crowd if you are looking for an unbiased response. But i have been there, working at a restaurant as a vegetarian, i made a name for myself as being the healthy one but besides that if you are strong on your diet and wont get tempted then go for it to make money but be sure to make it temporary and get out of there to live your dream fast.
You don't need money to get a job working in the weight loss industry. Look at Freelee & myself. No formal qualifications but raking in the $ but more importantly, getting MILLIONS of views each year aka getting the message out to the masses.
Id rather make a grand a week banging out youtube vids at home and getting paid whilst I sleep vs working in a steak house serving up fatties and holding my tongue. Could be a good experience though. 'When I worked in the steak house you could pretty much just pick what the person was going to order just by looking at em...'.
10000000's of jobs out there. Do whatever you enjoy most fo sure.
YEs i know i really am not that desperate for money I just think it could be good to have some saving to enrole in a university course even though that wont stop me studying as I get books from the library and buy them online every week! :P as some people say that it could be a good opportnity to spark conversation about healthier eating and life style habits but also I really dont want to be hypocritical as I already asked the family I nanny if I can stop cooking meat and dairy for them. I want to be a good example thats all and no way am I tempted to eat dead food so my health is ok :P hmmm
I dealt with the same thing but at a seafood resturaunt on the beach... i was a busser for about 2 months picking scraps and bones FOR HOURS til i got fed up enough and determined to find a better job for me!! NEVER SETTLE!!! :))))
Ive got a mate in Darwin that just lives on the dole. Gets about 850$ a fortnight. Just trains in a local gym and eats organic vegan. Doesnt use the net, rents a basic pad. They could get a job as a model though if they wanted. Full time training + recovery does a body good.
Maybe do a video on careers?I'm interested to know, working my ass off here trying to get a degree and a good job back in Thailand. It's easy for you and freelee doing your thing, but I can't say that for everyone.
some might consider it hypocritical but look at it like this, you are not killing the cow, cooking the steak, or really doing anything that makes the people that come there to actually order steak. They are coming there to eat steak & ribs and regardless if you are there or not the customers will still go there.
So, if it allows you to make a decent living while you look for something different, great. Work hard, make the customers feel number one AND network. For all you know the next customer that you serve will have the opportunity that you are looking for. While working there might be gross, you will meet hundreds of people every week and that could be key to the next step towards you end goal.
i work at panda express and am wanting to change jobs. although theres nothing wrong with trying to make a $ I just dont think it would be positive to be around that kind of environment. it would be a much better idea to work somewhere where you would fit in better too. im sure the people that go to this restaurant you speak of wouldnt support youre lifestyle and have discouraging things to say.... and would you really want to be around that? it is youre decision im just offering my personal opinion.. also, i'm sure you could get a job somewhere else. ....as for me i need a new job --__-- lol good luck girl hope everything works out =]
UGG Chris you broke the rules -.-'
