30 Bananas a Day!

So today i wore a pair of new shoes for the first time and at the end of the day my left foot really hurts - the pain is only when i flex/walk on it, it hurts like a bruise but only on the top of my foot. The shoes are comfortable enough and the right size.

I've had this before in my right foot, when i used to walk 2 miles/day in flatforms ('fashion shoes') that were too tight, and i didn't do anything about it so now i have a loss of feeling in my right foot which affects my walking. My right foot doesn't function properly when i walk/run anymore. Although not noticeable, it really sucks.

Went to the doctors, had a lot of trouble explaining it, and they didn't really know what to do except tell me to rest. Not really possible when i have to walk to college every day (2 miles) and at the time i was in a bad mindset with exercise, pain wasn't going to stop me, so kept running everyday too.

I've tried wearing trainers instead for a while when it happened to my right foot, to not much avail, but I'm not going to stop wearing my new shoes since they were hella expensive (also, what teenager wants to go around in trainers all the time)  So far i've used ibuprofen gel and massaging my foot but this sometimes makes it worse or just does nothing.

I don't know whether its a trapped nerve/damaged nerve or something else entirely? What can i do to help it heal?

Yoga can really help and you might also like to learn chi running.  Have you tried vibram five fingers shoes?  They may help too.

+ infinity the Chi recommendation.  Plenty of vids on YT to get started, but one of their workshops is well worth the investment too.

You might also consider doing your homework in finding a high quality, well recommended chiropractor in your area.  It is possible there's some skeletal misalignment that could be rectified.

Thank you. I will definitely check out the yoga and look for a chiropractor, as long as they don't charge too much? I have tried wearing those shoes before but they didn't suit my running style and actually caused more pain in my legs because of the impact + lack of cushioning.
