30 Bananas a Day!

Hi all,

I've been doing the RVLF lifestyle for about two months. I just recently switched to 811 frutarian last week and been trying mono meals.

I'm 27 yo, 4ft 10 inches and I weigh 98 lbs. I have been eating around 3000calories every day and I workout at least one hour (4-5x a week)/cardio and weights. On the weekends I go hiking. I've gained weight since doing the frutiarian diet, and I dont know if its from the fruit itself or just eating more. I dont think I need to gain anymore weight.. I mean, hello I'm a midget.. but I am not stick and bones. I have muscle and I am strong.

I'm on summer break right now from school, but I start summer quarter next week.. I will be more busy and this will help me to go back to my regular eating patterns and times.

I started doing 75% fruit, 10% veggies and 15% fat. I think I need to increase my fruit consumption to 80 or 85 because I'm still craving fat. My family has a history of diabetes and I'm not sure if I should increase more on eating fruit. HELP!

I know that If I dont eeat enough carbs I will start craving fat, but at the same time I dont want to completely avoid fats.. they help absorb vitamins like A, E, D and K from the foods we eat.

anyone have advice?

Do you know your macronutrient ratios? Are you getting 75/10/15, or what does that mean? If you are, I would definitely recommend upping your carbs and lowering your fats. Eating more fruit will not cause diabetes, nor will it have ANY negative impact on you.

When I was eating overts, I gained a little bit of fat, up to about 7 pounds. I'm now off them and feeling superb (and I lost most of that weight)! I personally don't believe you need to eat overts more than once in a while (maybe once or twice every month, if that) but if you're not quite ready to take it there, I understand.

Hi Sydney, my macronutrient ratios are supposed to be 80 10 10 like everyone elses. But I think my body needs more fat than the 10%. Lately I have been doing the 75 10 15, but maybe I should go back to 80 10 10.

Do you count calories though, like eat more than what you burn, or do you stay within the range or a little under??

I'm still kind of new at the fruitarian thing, maybe my body just  needs more time to adjust.. to the 80 10 10.

I loosely track my calories on Cronometer, and aim to take in about 2300-3000 calories a day, because that's where I feel good at. On days I don't exercise, most of the time I'll hit the lower end of the spectrum (but not always; you need calories for recovery as well), but on days I do, I always try and take in as many or more calories than I burned.

If you feel good on 15% fat, then I say go for it. Everyone's slightly different; do what's best for you. But if you're feeling like you need to change something, then I think that's a place to start.

And yes, your body needs time to adjust. I've been doing it for about 19 months and my body's still not all the way adjusted. Be patient, do the right things, and it'll get there. :)

thanks Sydney!

have u read 80/10/10? it says 10% MAXIMUM for fats, 10% or less.  i dont think the higher fat will help with your weight issue because eating fat gets ya fat as harley says.  some is ok of course, but u need more fruit if ur craving fat.  go on cronometer to help urself find out what that is of your total calories! why do u think your body needs more fat?  the book will help you better understand the questions you have.  hugs <3

Jennelle, I have the 80 10 10 book by Dr. Douglas Graham. I will try as best as I can to comply 80 10 10. I know that I just have to up my fruit/veggie intake if I start having cravings for fats and grains. I also use crono meter daily to monitor my food/calorie intake.

I just dont know if I should eat 80% of my calories from fruit.. I think I am going to add more veggies with the fruit into that 80%. Thanks!

You should be getting all your calories from fruit.

The leafy greens I don't even count as calories.

Check cronometer.com for that type of info in its entirety.
