If you mean too many in terms of calories, no it isn't too many. 500g is only about 1300 calories. You need at least 1200 more for the day to hit the minimum. But if you mean too many in terms of is that many dates bad for you. Well if you drink plenty of water and you feel fine eating that many then it isn't too many.
I eat 400g of dates 4 times a week(for 2 years). It doesn't cause me any problems. My dates are on the moist side. If they're dry, I soak them.

lots of calcium but no vitamin c you might crave some oranges for your next meal or potatoes both have c along with your greens
if they are sweet they are good !
