30 Bananas a Day!

What will you guys do when you break your leg, or get shot or stabbed or hit by a car? Or get bitten by a poisonous animal (vaccinations and anti-venom are like, the same thing)? Also, why are you guys against chiropractic care? I have scoliosis and all they do is do adjustments and have you do exercises to help your spine go back into place. They don't make you take pills or shots or anything like that. I really don't understand why you guys don't like chiropractic care.

I'm not against modern medicine first off. Actually in pre-med right now to eventually become a general practitioner and be the right kind of doctor like Dr. McDougall and Esselstyn etc. However, I am against the overprescribed drug hysteria most doctors suffer from in light of not getting properly educated as to why chronic disease forms and how we can prevent it.

Chiropractics is kind of a joke medicine/science when you get down to it. Watch Penn and Teller's Bullsh*t video on Alternative medicine for a quick look at it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1c1PEGgQQ0

How is it a joke medicine? That doesn't make sense. They align your spine into the correct space. What's iffy about that?

Basically the entire premise of chiropractics is flawed because subluxations have never been demonstrated to exist. It's very much a faith based medicine.

It's not faith based, it's founding principles are the body can heal itself. Which is true if you've ever cut a bruise or cut.:).
There is a lot of research on chiropractic, it can be a challenge because every patient has a different spine. There is one article where if the patient has a C1 subluxation and hypertension correcting the subluxated vertebrae can be as effective as 2 blood pressure medications. And it takes care of the cause not just force the body to dilate the arteries like bp medication.:)

I'd rather them get on a plant based diet than go have someone step on their back and completely get rid of the issue. How is it not faith based/placebo effect? Show me the scientific articles that show otherwise.

Chiropractic is not walking on people's backs, it's done by hand. I dunno what you got done but it wasn't chiropractic. I hope they don't tell you these things at your undergrad school.

Your link before had some scare tactics I'm afraid. It talked about 'cracking peoples bones', which is not what the crack noise, aka cavitation, is. It's a sudden increase in the joint surface which causes gaseous bubbles of nitrous oxide or carbon dioxide to be released. I think we would get sued if we fractured a patient for every adjustment!:)

I don't understand the plant based reference, maybe have the patient do both? I've been raw version 811 for almost 2 years and it's the best thing that's ever happened to me, but I still have subluxations.

I don't know how to send you photos of the xrays, it's kind of overwhelming to look at them. It takes practice.

This page has a list of chiropractic journals

You can also go on google scholar and search for chiropractic.

If an engineer correcting a buildings foundation because it is off 5 degrees is faith based than so is chiropractic. Chiropractic is just correcting the biomechanics, like a car mechanic for the body.:)

That's great that you're going to premed and going to be like Mcdougall, he's in the right direction for sure. And it's good that you won't be overprescribing drugs, that's a huge problem now adays.

I read your link, most of the stuff there is not true chiropractic. Chiropractic is the adjustment of the spine/extremities with the hands, chiro means hands.

Running a device down the spine such as a nervoscope or tytron only measures temperature changes. If the temperature on the right is warmer than the left or vice versa there MAY be a subluxation there. It is one indicator. If there is inflammation at the vertebral level is another. Motion palpation of the joint can give an indication that the joint may not rotate as well to one side. These are very subtle feels with the hands that take a lot of practice, I can understand why medical folks think it can't be felt because they don't need to develop sensitive hands.

Then this is checked against the X-ray. One example you may find with a subluxation is the pedicle shadow in the lumbar vertebrae will be narrower on the side the spinous process rotates.

So if the temperature, inflammation, motion palpation, and X-ray findings all match then that person very likely has a subluxation. They usually will have pain at the joint on motion palpation.

Hope I didn't go over anyone's head with that, I tried to be simple yet precise.

"You broke your neck? Quick! Nurse, get me 2 kg of bananas stat!"

most of the doctors i've seen are quick to dole out meds to treat symptoms rather then cure / fix illness's most of htese meds bring plenty of there own problems sometimes causing the patient to need more meds to treat those side effects etc.. Vaccines are a whole host of other issues in themselves.

THat being said if i break my leg or something of that nature i'll get it taken care of. If i however end up with cancer I wont get chemo. or if i have idigestion I wont take prilosec or whatever else.

That being said I have no use for a doctor for much of anything but emergency care. If i had an issue like kidney transplant or some tumor has to get cut out i'd consider my options at that time but there is a good chance I'd pass on that as well.

Appendicitis, too?

appendicitis yeah i'd go to a doctor. The other side to all of this is the costs of health care. For me in the US its honestly cheaper to die. And with how things seem to work its either run up a hefty tab and make payments forever (and no insurance wont cover everything) or get denied treatment because you do not have the cash seen this happen. That being the case I also run the risk of needing treatment but unable to get it hence here comes natural medicine etc..
