I have been trying to find ways to help my best friend convert to veganism for different reasons. She has been dealing with significant weight gain so it has taken a toll on her self esteem. I told her about RT4 and how you can lose weight effortlessly by eating HCLF vegan foods without having to restrict calories so that appealed to her. I figured that since she didn't have the research and facts to allow her to understand why this was the best lifestyle- not only for health but for the sake of the animals and the planet- I thought that showing her a few videos about the meat and dairy industry might help her make the connection.
First, I had her watch Earthlings, The Best Speech by Gary Yourofsky and a few other videos. Next, I explained the types of meals she can eat and the basics of RT4. She tried it out for about a week but then went back to her SAD diet. It's really frustrating for me because I made the switch immediately after watching Earthlings and never looked back, so I don't understand how a person can watch something like that and continue to eat meat and dairy. I really want to help her because I know that this lifestyle will help her health, weight loss and benefit the animals but I feel like I'm being too pushy cause I bring this conversation up almost every time I see her or talk to her.
She's a bit lazy about preparing her own meals and there's usually some sort of meat/fish meal already prepared by her mom so I can see why it would be convenient for her just to stick to her old ways. She also eats out a lot with her bf on date nights and usually goes for sushi (even though I showed her a video on the dangers of eating fish she still continues to eat it).
Any tips on how I can help her make the connection? I'm not really sure what else I can do.
