I gave myself a challenge to run at least a mile every day - I often run more. But for the past few days, this pain in my ankle has been hindering me. I'm limping everywhere; running endorphins don't even make it disappear. I had to cut my run short today because of it...I want to follow through with my challenge, but I don't want to %$#^ anything up. What do I do?!
I run through pain all the time but if i cant run through pain I wont run through pain I hope that makes sense. I'm all for pushing through it but sometimes you have other choice. Pain like that I would consider a different pair of shoes IE how old are the ones you got do they fit well perhaps there just not the right running shoe for you maybe the socks you where with them are not right and are causing slippage etc..
For me It would almost always involve a diff pair of shoes I just know for me I dont get pain unless somethings amiss with my shoes or socks etc.. Sure I get pain from over doing it but thats a different thing.
When I first started running I was met with pain so bad in my knees that I had to walk for almost a month till it got better. Other times I've taken a few days then limped through runs then walked some.
Sometimes you think you can run through it so you do then you just cant run at all and can hardly walk even. Like you I didnt want to give up over some simple injury. Dont let something like this stop you in your tracks as soon as you can just get back out there.
Trust Harley as well. He'll tell you the exact same protocol
How've you been feeling lately, Tara?
I've been resting for the past two weeks and am currently debating whether or not I should start running again. The pain only completely stopped two days ago.
Sounds like rest was in your best interests.
I'd give it longer though. Try just a bit of gentle walking and see how it feels the next day.
