I've been researching out of curiosity on bras because I have heard from sources from someone here that wearing bras are linked to breast cancer. Is that so when one wears them longer than necessary or is that so in general?
If it's the latter, what are the alternatives, especially for a large-breasted individual?
What are your opinions on bras in general?
I would love to hear experiences, opinions, and knowledge (especially from the ladies here).
Many thanks in advance.
I feel like bra-wearing societies are also SAD-eating societies so it would be hard to pinpoint the bras as the only culprit, however I would imagine that wearing a tight bra would of course inhibit circulation.
I shed it whenever I'm home, but as a medium- to large-chested gal I feel more comfortable with a wireless bra on, especially while exercising. Extra especially when rebounding :)
Yes, I've heard that keeping your breasts stationary prevents the lymph from draining properly. Not to mention it also atrophies the muscles which hold them up. Breasts are supposed to move and breath freely. I don't wear a bra, haven't in over 25 years. My breasts are as healthy and happy as can be. I guess I'm medium chested. Wearing layers helps. Close fitting tank tops or comfortable cotton sports bras might help larger women.
wow, 25 yrs not wearing bras, thanks for sharing. For me it's been only a few yrs but i still wondered if they would ever sag. Are exercising a lot the bust area or not even?
I still wear them. Not because I want to, but it would be really embarrassing when my n-words show through.
If there were some solutions to cover up the problem areas, then I would be all for it.
same here. nipples showing through your clothes are just too sexy for daytime events ! I was thinking about nipple-covers (the adhesive ones) but that seems too artificial as well, and expensive in the long run
thanks for the tip ! ill try that out honeybee :)
i was not too happy with the bandaid cos i don't know what's in the glue, and our skin is quite absorbent and don't want some weird petroleum stuff entering my body.
yeah showing nipples was a huuge problem for me. only the heavily padded bras would hide them but then it would attract even more attention cos they would be really big. so the solution i found outside of winter time is to make up some clothings /jewleries that are fitting right where supposed to be so I can walk around without attracting attention like some time ago. This has totally solved the problem for me and I feel so free in my body.
The adhesive ones are washable, and hold up quite awhile if you take good care of them. Unfortunately they still show through lots of clothes, and I don't know what's in the adhesive. Currently I'm still wearing bras most of the time, but I just hate the darn things so I try to ditch them as often as possible. I do also try to wear the adhesive ones once or twice a week. Mainly I just feel uncomfortable walking around when everyone's eyes goes straight to my headlights. :P
I don't wear them but I'm pretty small.. I just don't think about it- nipple show through. I also don't shave my legs or pits. All of this is strange media induced pressure that you don't need to conform to! Once you just don't do it and get over the initial embarrassment it's really refreshing.
Yes I wonder if the fact that people are so stuck at looking at nipples is connected to how much breastfeeding they got when baby... Does somebody know?
You're awesome! I agree. I wear one as little as I possibly can. I really don't think about my nips showing either. Everyone has nipples :)
