When I'm not on the road, I often work in close quarters with several hundred people at my job. It's kind of like when you're a kid at school...one kid gets sick, everyone ends up getting it (right now it's a particularly bad norovirus-influenza type of longer-lasting sickness laced with strong fatigue, people are walking zombies around New England right now!). We're on the third round of illness at work this winter and I have yet to get sick, which is awesome! In particular, I attribute that to the high amount of Vitamin C I've been getting, haha - lots of oranges, clementines, mandarins, tangerines, and satsumas, plus the occasional orange juice or OJ-infused mixed-fruit smoothie with whatever frozen tropical fruits & berries I have on-hand in my freezer. I miss mangos, but I have a pretty big supply of Medjools & other date varieties for a secondary fruit option, although access to fruits in winter is definitely not as much as it is in the summer!
This winter is the first winter in my life where I haven't gotten sick along with everyone else at work.
That's awesome! :) Surely people at work are putting 2+2 together with seeing you eat/drink loads of fruit and you only one not getting sick! :D
I actually upped my food budget to bring in more clementines to work to share, haha. People see me eating literally 20 at a time and think it's weird (which it is, lol), and then they're like wait, you haven't taken a sick day all year...
While my wife isn't onboard with this diet herself, she told me yesterday that I'm not allowed to go off it because only one parent is allowed to get sick at a time & this diet has apparently made me invincible against the flus & colds going around ;)
You would think so!! probably 1 in 100 would think Hey but bye the time they get their act together the sickness has passed and they are tucking into a big mac!!!
I recently had a similar happen to me. Before Christmas I had been catching every cold from anyone who even walked by me. Then other symptoms that had been arising over the last little while pointed me to think I had a copper deficiency. Even though I was eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies. I wasn't eating ones high in copper and I had only been eating nuts randomly. Then after searching the internet for information about copper, I find that we need copper in order for our immune system to work properly. Sooooooooo.... I then started eating lots of foods that are high in copper and I'm happy to say that I haven't caught one single cold since. Not even with sick people sitting all around me or across from me at the lunch table. The rounds of colds and sore throats are still going around work all the time but now I'm out of the cycle.... thank goodness!!!! ;o)
Wow, that's an awesome song. Thanks Winlord..... that's going to the top of my music playlist.
Same here in France.
Everyone get sick at work and I'm the weird one never getting sick and eating a mono-meal of (at least) 10 bananas each day for lunch. It is kind of strange to not even have runny nose or coughing while everyone else is.
