Has anyone else experienced this? If I eat more than one or two dates at a sitting, I get an uncomfortable sugar rush, followed quickly by a crash, and an upset stomach. I've tried pairing the dates with celery or romaine, to see if it'd slow the absorption of the sugar, but no luck. They're good quality, fresh raw organic dates, so there is no chance that it's the quality of the dates, or that they are steamed.
Do some people just not do well with dates? I'd love to be able to eat them because I'm not used to larger volumes of food yet!
Are other varieties less sweet than medjool? Maybe I'll give another one a try.
I will give them a shot, thanks for the tip :)
There is no chance that I'm dehydrated!
Me too!! They're so tasty, and I love to have something compact and calorie-dense to carry around in my backpack. It's too bad!
I just blended dates with apples for the most amazing applesauce I've ever eaten.
I've had this problem for the past two days (my first two days) of making datorade. It passes in about a half hour but is quite painful.
I believe it's directly related to the sugar content, and yes I do get a mighty sugar buzz!
It feels just like when I used to pound a Mountain Dew in college.
Yesterday I included a banana but today I didn't and I think it was worse. Tomorrow I'm going to throw 2 or 3 and see if that's enough of a buffer.
I can see why Freelee doesn't need coffee in the morning tho! :)
