30 Bananas a Day!

Every year I'm required to have a physical for my job (by their designated doctor) and mine is coming up.  They will ask me about diet, lifestyle, mental well being, etc.  It also includes a pap smear and other general health assessments.  I know they're going to ask when I last had my period and it's been a year and a half (since I quit birth control) and now I might not get it ever it seems, a lot of lfrv people seem to think we don't need to get our period.  Also I think that if I tell them about the way I'm eating they'll think I have an eating disorder and probably report it to my boss (they are allowed to tell them if they think I'm a harm to myself or others, I work a government job) so...I'm wondering if I should just tell them that my last period was a month ago and that I eat a "regular/healthy" diet.  What do you think?

Don't lie...Just say that you have a healthy diet which includes lots of fruits and veges. Don't have to get into details of what it does or does not include each day. On the period, just say it is regular (what's regular is subjective). If asked when was your last period, just say it was on schedule and it was fine.

perfect.  gonna do that!

What a great post!  I completely relate.  I've lost my period (the monthly evidence) since I stopped birth control and my doctor tells me to "liberate my eating."  Does anyone know if there is a way test to find out if we are ovulating minus the blood?

You are eating a healthy diet, that wouldn't be a lie?  Maybe the less you disclose the better, be vague and let them think whatever they want.  I would avoid lying.

:)

YES. please read taking charge of your fertility by toni weschler and you will learn how to chart fertility signs and know whether you are ovulating or not.

Thank you for the reference!

So how many of you raw vegan ladies have become pregnant without bleeding? Just curious.

you got pregnant without bleeding?  That's great news!  After the bf and I get married that's one of the first things on our to "do" list :)

check to make sure you are ovulating and do not just trust other people's accounts. take your waking temperature every morning. i suggest reading taking charge of your fertility by toni weschler so you know how to chart and what to look for. people can bleed without ovulating and some people say you can ovulate without bleeding (and i am talking AT ALL), but i have yet to see someone who actually knows that they have been ovulating regularly and not bleeding whatsoever. please check.

and i wouldn't lie to your doctor, something could have gotten messed up with your hormones bc of the pill. let them know you have not resumed your period since stopping the pill and you think it might have something to do with that. if your body fat % is low there is a good chance they will mention that, but i would recommend going in with the info of whether you are ovulating or not. You must take control of your own health if you want to not rely on a doctor. do not trust everyone on the internet!

i personally never stopped bleeding on 811 and it seems many successful long-termers never did either, so be careful.

1. Yes, many women do not bleed at all. Some may experience increased mucus flow, etc and most women experience at least lighter/less blood loss on a HCRV diet. Your body still forms a uterine lining every month and the egg is released; all of which is reabsorbed if you do not become pregnant, because the body safely can, without having to "detox" via that channel.

2. See above re: no detox needed

3. There are many methods for tracking ovulation. Google or pick up a book on the Natural Fertility Method.

This is my understanding after my research. There are several great articles out there on Raw Food websites, like Debbie Took's. Another great one called The Bloody Truth is linked above

I have read and love taking charge of your fertility!  I read it before I went off the pill, and when I stopped having my period I decided to wait until I got it to measure my signs of fertility.  Now that it's been a year and a half I guess I'll start checking again!  I know Freelee said her period stopped and then started up after a certain amount of time, so maybe that's what will happen to me!

yeah, i got preggers after being bleed-free for 18 months

yay!  good to know :)
