30 Bananas a Day!

Hi,

I'm a new member and haven't posted before, so please be kind if I haven't adhered to common forum rules or social standards.

I'm a HSP (highly sensitive person) and began a high carb plant based diet a couple of months ago. This wasn't a huge transition for me as I didn't consume caffeine or alcohol and ate a 'relatively' clean diet anyway.

Being sensitive, I tend to have skin reactions to certain foods, nothing serious, just dry skin or redness. For example, if I ate too much red cabbage, I'd have a red rash on my face and chest area. I have recently begun having dry, red skin and a few spots and am trying to understand where this might be coming from and whether bananas or higher amounts of potassium than my typical daily amount may be a cause. I'm not doing anything radical and am not 'blaming' bananas and mangos, however being a HSP, I have to consider what I consume.

I was curious whether anybody may have had a similar experience or could offer any advice on how to understand where this irritating rash is coming from?

Thanks for reading.

I noticed when I eat low fat (<15%) I am more sensitive to chemicals and artificial fragrances. Which laundry detergent do you use? I have to use unscented Arm & Hammer or Borax if I don't want to itch and burn. You might want to rewash all your clothes and bedsheets. Also I noticed I get zits from getting into contact with the "junk food sweat" residual on my pillow after switching to HCV.

Also if you use cologne and deodorant, you could try to switch to unscented and natural versions and see if that helps. I use E Plus High C and it works better than what I used to use.

I think a high fat diet has a side effect of masking acute symptoms of exposure, so you're not aware what's going on until you're saddled with the chronic stuff...lethargy, heart disease, obesity, memory loss, bad skin, anxiety, stinky feet, etc :D

Thanks for the reply WillPower, you have a good point regarding deodorants as I have noticed that one I use has begun stinging mildly when I use it, and had ignored that. I'll look into the laundry detergent and see if it makes any difference too. :-)

Great, I'll have a look now! Thanks Mikaela
