30 Bananas a Day!

I've noticed that I seem to post my titles in caps..like I'm screaming 'salt'. haha anyway I need help! I know high salt is bad and I know that you need to watch out with some tinned foods as they can be very high in salt, but what is the like 'green amber red' zone when it comes to salt? I'm good at reading fat and sugars etc like when I have tinned food or just any food. I just don't know what's bad or good when it comes to things like 'mgs' like 1000mgs freelee says like how do I know I'm not going over? I guess some of it is common sense like per 100g if there's 10g of salt in a 500g package, that ain't good lol but like I was saying, green, amber, red. green would be like 0-2g of salt maybe? just so I know when reading things, it's when some things have mgs where I have no clue, what's a 'low' salt reading in 'mgs' you get the gist. anyway hope anyone can help ):::::

If you want all the facts this is a good read http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Goodfood/Pages/salt.aspx but I'll sum it up it up for you, the recommended max intake for an adult in the UK is 6 grams/one teaspoon yet I would and I'm sure other people around here say thats still way too much. aim for 3 grams a day and aslong as you are frinking 2/3 litres of water a day and exercise moderatley you'll be just fine. :D

BTW you'll probably find its much easier to calculate your salt intake when you are preparing your meals instead of eating tinned/processed foods and if you are RT4 then you only have to worry about salt for one meal a day ;)

ahh true true! I don't tend to eat tinned food, only beans if I have nothing to eat and it's only ever the last resort but thanks!
