Me too but I thought we were supposed to wash our fruits and vegetables to make sure we get any chemicals off. Even if it's organic, which most of mine is, the workers in the field might urinate or contaminate it so I've always understood you should wash it before you eat it.
OK I HAVE THE ULTIMATE SALAD SPINNER:
BUY A BAG OF ORANGES - THE ONES IN THE RED NETTED BAG
EAT THE ORANGES
PUT LETTUCE IN THE NOW EMPTY SACK AND WASH
GO OUTSIDE IN THE SUNSHINE AND SWING THE THE BAG IN CIRCLES ABOVE YOUR HEAD UNTIL LETTUCE IS DRY
Awesome, we will try this!!! :D
I once read some randomness about a salad spinner that made me take pause. One person thoroughly loved their and used it regularly, until one day it either broke or they took it apart for some reason. Inside were many tiny plastic shavings that had rubbed off over time while the machine had been spinning. The person was disturbed that such shavings might have been getting into their otherwise clean lettuce all this time.
I can't vouch for any true dangers, but it's enough to make me "hmmm".
Besides, Mel's crazy whirley bag trick sounds like so much fun!
Oh that was me :) Ya that was our last spinner and we have managed without one quite well but I do miss the time saving aspect. Really excited about the orange bag trick, I can't believe I didn't think of it before, we were actually brain storming ideas of what to do with all our orange bags.
My memory must've subconsciousized your story.
I think a critical component of the swing should be simultaneously making this sound :)
Lol! I might as well make that sound, it will go well with the image my neighbors will see of me on the front porch swinging my lettuce, lol.
You haven't heard anything until you've been at a middle eastern wedding where 50 women are doing this at once. My ears are still bleeding...
Oh really, wow, lol. :)
Will this get rid of all the pesky lettuce bugs? They are driving me CRAZY!
