The alchemist sounds great Im getting onto amazon as we speak :)

Ive bought it. Really like the sound of it and by the time I finish current book. "The world without us" Ill get into it :) Cheers

I read The Alchemist and the Ayn Rand books(amazing that English was not her primary language, you would never know).  The others I have seen the movies.  Cloud Atlas was totally beyond my comprehension.

Greg! A fellow objectivist?
I have seen the atlas shrugged movies. I'm personally a bigger fan of the second. The acting was far improved. I can't wait for the new one. It's kick starter funded which is pretty awesome.

try The Road, also my McCarthy.  So moving.

Ive read that, great book

My favourite Dostoyevsky is probably Crime and Punishment.  It was the first one of his that I read and it blew my mind.

pretty much anything by Doris Lessing but, again, the first one I read sticks in my mind the most:  Mara and Dann, which has a science fiction slant.  It's set in the far future with a brother and sister traveling north, where it's rumoured there's still fresh water.  I also really enjoyed The Diary of a Good Neighbour, Lessing writing as Jane Somers

Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood

The Roaches Have No King, by Daniel Evan Weiss. It's told from the perspective of cockroaches, so it's basically all about sex and food.  Hilarious.

The Embedding, Ian Watson.  This one kept me up all night.  A facility studying linguistics performs experiments on kids, isolating them in weird environments (I think one was like an Escher drawing) and drugging them to see what kinds of languages the different groups will invent.

Point Counterpoint and Antic Hay, both by Aldous Huxley

London Fields, Martin Amis - interestingly, this novel has a very minor character who only eats fruit and is ridiculously healthy.

More science fiction: Ringworld by Larry Niven.

I could go on and on....

I am waiting for my brother too finish crime and punishment and I am going too borrow it I still haven't read it. looking forward too it though ill get on good reads check some of them out thanks :)

The Artist's way- Julia Cameron is definitely one of my favourites...

The kite runner - (cannot remember the author's name:-P )

Poetry is amazing too: Rumi, Goethe, William Blake

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Ishmael.  GREAT book.  Also Life Of Pi, 80/10/10 diet, The Bone Garden, Angela's Ashes, The Giver, Fight Club, and many more.

Read Angelas ashes and fight club amazing books. never read 80/10/10 suprisingly
