30 Bananas a Day!

Hello there! Ok, so I have been having this breakout, almost, of very unsightly, moderately itchy red bumps under and around my eyes. I tried to get a good picture, but you can't even really see it because the camera just blurs it all together and makes it look WAY better than in real life, but it is the reddish/pink under my eye to the side. In real life, it's like a big red patch mainly under, and a little bit around my eyes. This has been going on for over a month, and I'm so ready for it to be gone! I have used multiple different natural treatments: I use vegetable glycerin or Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap to wash my face, then use coconut oil as a moisturizer (around my eyes as well.) I have also used vitamin E oil on the area, as well as a natural homemade calendula beeswax salve that I bought at a farmer's market, and honey. These may help a little bit, but they are still here aaagghh...

The one thing I think could definitely be to blame is... between January and February (no more than one total month) I was not strictly LFRV, and ate curry, white and brown rice, seaweed, non-raw salsa with onions, garlic and vinegar,  salmon, tuna and shrimp even, and plenty of salt... ugh, and I definitely suffered health-wise from that. I had basically a hangover-like dehydration day, as well as consistent colds, phlegm, and fatigue. I started to look weary and icky. And I gained weight. All after one month! God, that stuff is evil. SO, I certainly more than learned my lesson.

However, perhaps my body and skin simply have not recovered yet. I have been 100% LFRV since February 7, now, and am drinking plenty of water, and getting 8-9 hours a night (most of the time). I have been using the remedies I mentioned above consistently.

Does anyone have any tips, experience, or anything like that! I so so SO appreciate each and everyone of you who even reads this, thank you!

Might be eczema.

Check this random page out... seems like it is somewhat similar to your problem:

Oh my goodness, thank you... that actually proved very enlightening. She said she cut out eggs, peanuts, and citrus fruits... I don't eat eggs or peanuts, but I do eat TONS of oranges, because they are very cheap right now, and delicious of course. Shoot... As much as I don't want to, I will decrease my intake, or maybe stop for a while. :( But thank you!

Welcome.  Glad I could help.  Good luck. :)

does anyone know why citrus would cause eczema in some people? Oranges seem so innocent!

From what I've heard, eczema is either allergy or stress related.  So an overabundance of a certain food could trigger some sort of allergic reaction, possibly?

This page seems to explain the whole allergy/eczema thing succinctly:

This page says these fruits should be avoided, and has a list of other foods, too (although most people here would not be eating those other things anyway, so no need to list them):

Taken from:

Acidic Fruit

Acidic Fruit, such as strawberries, tomatoes, oranges, and lemons can also make your eczema rash worse, especially in the facial area. Grapefruits, limes and pineapples should also be avoided. Good alternatives include apples, bananas, dates, melons, and pears.

Also, if your body is overly acidic, it is unable to function. Adding kelp and other alkaline rich foods to your diet can help restore balance.

Also, I would make sure that you are getting your B vitamins, esp that popular B12.  B vitamins are needed for skin regeneration, and if you're lacking one of the B vitamins, it's probably why your skin is flaring up as well.

+1! Thank you for posting this, very informative and I never knew acidic fruit can be capable of such!

it may be just the winter and our lack of sunshine

my skin has a few marks in march when most depleted of Vit. D

get the sunshine when it comes and maybe see very quick clear up of skin

i do
