My name is Andrea and I am 21 years old.
I suffer with:
I am tired of living life so lowly. I want to enrich my life by being healthy, feeling good about myself, and improving my symptoms... and hopefully eliminating them!
After reading about HCRV lifestyle, I really want to give this a shot. I absolutely love fruits... but veggies are a bit of a tough one for me.
Please don't kill me on this... but I absolutely hate bananas. I will eat them, but they are my least preferred fruit. I just remember my baby sister having the stinkiest breath after eating them! Is there a problem not consuming bananas? I want to give them a shot again by freezing them and turning them into an ice cream.
I am also in love with dried fruits. I easily wipe out an entire package of dried figs or dried dates in one day. I know this may be irrational thinking, but can eating such a large quantity of these dried fruits lead to weight gain?
Another question I have is if anyone has any experience of blood sugar problems, such as type II diabetes or having frequent sugar crashes. I am a sufferer of blood sugar crashing and type II diabetes runs in my family. Eating in a 80/10/10 fashion, has anyone successfully eliminated such problems?
Thank you very much for the insight and support! I am looking forward to making a change. :)
No worries about the bananas! Honestly, I have never suffered from ADHD and I do not know about diabetes in my family, but definitely the other three in some way or another. Coming from Virginia to LA was a big jump for me and I definitely did not handle it the way that I would have liked. But the past is the past and now I am living a much happier and healthier life and I can 100% attribute that to what I am consuming and what I am not. Freelee and Harley speak about it all the time... So does a good friend, Rich Roll... It's all about sustainability. You are never gonna change your lifestyle if you do not sustain it for a period of time. You won't do it if you eat bananas because you do not like bananas. You won't do it if vegetables are not your favorite either. The trick is to pick out a solid group of healthy, plant-strong foods that you do love. For me, I love mangoes. I can eat them all day. So I picked out mangoes and would eat those. I would eat medjool dates, bananas, watermelon, and raspberries. To get some greens in, I would blend a handful with a lot of mangoes or a lot of bananas and that was fine. I would also put down some spinach or kale and put some cooked rice and/or potatoes on top with some organic tomato sauce or mustard (love mustard). It is all about doing something that you will sustain and if that means eating a lot of a couple foods then that's great because you love them and your body will love you too. You will start losing weight and gaining health and happiness and no longer be sad, depressed, angry or guilty with yourself for eating those foods that your body does not need. I used to be so tired and have headaches and be stressed and angry but with all the energy I have, I am a much happier person.
I hope that helped!
