Jw, for me it gets hard cause my mom grocery shops :p and my whole family eats fruits and veggies but they eat other things too, so one day of me eating the bananas, apples, oranges she buys, only lasts a day or two!!
How do you guys get by?
Also, fruit and veggies are expensive, so as I would love to grab a few cases, its too much for my single mom to pay :s
I buy bananas by the case from Walmart. If you can grow a patch of clover that helps too. But you might be stuck with working a job just to prevent the restriction of you carbs. Good luck and buy wholesale for the best deals. =)
Even though I'm in college right now, I can relate to this because my mom buys all my food!
I always go grocery shopping with her whenever she goes. She picks up fruit and other things for the entire family and I pick up tons of fruit for me. So for example, the family would have 1 bunch of bananas for the week and I'd have 7 bunches for the week, that way I'd eat my 7 and they wouldn't have to worry about running out because they have "theirs."
We do it with other fruit too and so far its worked out. =]
My mom's awesome. She got on board when I wanted to follow this lifestyle and lets me buy any conventional foods (Within reason) and I've been doing that for 1+ years. The best place to get food is on reduced racks at stores.
Normally I get...
1-2 pounds of spinach
2 heads of red leaf lettuce or romaine
2 heads of celery
5 lbs tomatoes
2 bell peppers (They're expensive, so I have 1/2 of one every so often)
40 - 80 pounds of bananas (ask someone working in produce if they have a case of bananas)
5 pound bag of honey tangerines
3 pound Frozen bags of berries (Strawberries, blueberries and mixed berries)
3 pound Frozen mixed fruit
1 bag of grapes
3 pounds of pears
Yea Im 17, but my dad eats a little raw and so does my mom so they do always buy alot of produce. I always have to urge them to get enough though cause they make daily smoothies as well and we can run out fast.
We usually get:
3 heads of romaine
a couple bags of spinach
a huge bag of pears
3-4 bunches of bananas
a couple bags of apples
2 bags of grapes
6 cases of blueberries
3 cases of strawberries
3 containers of dates
all kinds of peppers
green, yellow, and red onion
DANDELIONS (my favorite for cleansing the skin and liver)
oh and I totally forgot a TON of citrus...oranges, clementines, lemons, limes, etc
We spend well over $100 a week so yea its expensive. We try to get organic greens or anything with edible skin but it doesn't always work out and we get what we can get.
Even with all that food though I tear through it lol my dad is always complaining I'm eating too much :D especially dates! I eat them like there's no tomorrow!
