can anyone help give some tips and advice?
im still a beginner at the raw till 4 life style; on days that im free its pretty easy and quite fun
but during the week i have a very busy work schedule and find it hard to stay carbed up. i feel uncomfortable bringing so much fruit to work, and i dont know if thats even possible. What can i do?? how do you transport raw food around with a busy life?
bag of apples!
- these are cheaper options that are my go-to's
i get told i'm wierd for bringing my own food places by folks who have high cholesterol and obesity isuses. I'm not sure who should feel more uncomfortable?
I'm fortunate to work from home but when i do go places and i gotta bring food with me I normally have a strategy. I might have my first meal already blended up in smoothie form. the next meal might be a couple bunches of bananas then if i'm eating dinner I mgiht have a pile of rice and veggies packed up.
I guess it gets tricky tho if you got say 40lbs of bananas and a hot car that might be sitting somewhere. I've had to eat bananas that almost froze in the car (oddly not to bad) and bananas that got too hot in the car (not as good).
I dunno I get creative and make due and realize it cant all be perfect. even if i was gonna eat a bologna sandwich my cold drink could smash it and make it soggy. I'll always have challenges eating on the go unless i dont mind going through fast food drive through *sigh*.
I'll also stop places along the way grab a jug of orange juice or some grapes and make a meal out of that. it doesnt have to be an elaborate or complicated meal wich is kinda the beauty of eating like this. it can be stupid simple if need be.
for me it's dates, sultanas and I always have a bunch of banana's on my desk. Don't hide it, place it in pole position for all to see! :)
it shouldn't make you uncomfortable!
Eat a big breakfast. I eat a light lunch at work. Snack when I get home. Then a big dinner.
I might eat an apple as a morning snack. Oranges, or bananas, or salad for lunch. Sometimes lunch is my nut or seed time too.
Dates are a high energy snack too.
about how many calories do you eat for breakfast?
500-1000. It depends on day and how I feel. I guess I would average at 500. Recently, I take a midmorning snack of something like an apple too.
I work at a school in a group of sped kids with behavior issues. I have to balance not getting tired with digestion, having energy to work, and yet, not being too tired from not enough calories. I started full time with them a few months ago so still a learning process for me.
my favorite dried fruits are dates and figs, i could totally bring those along... or i just need to get over it and bring my bags of fresh fruit, and not care. hmhm.
btw, are seeds bad? would it be too much fat? ...or will it help keep me sustained in times when im too busy to keep carbing. ..in the past if i got really hungry at work, id just pour chia seeds in water and drink it. but like i said , im still learning about highcarb rawtill 4 veganism and dont know if thats good or bad.
This winter I would make a smoothie for breakfast and then bring it with to work finishing it there. Then I would go home at lunch and make another one and bring it back to work and finish it there. (I live close to work). But I want to bike to work this summer so I'm now still doing a smoothie in the morning, but then cut fruit for lunch. I cut it up and then put it in a big bowl, and then I bring that to work along with 3-5 bananas all for lunch.
That gives me between 800-1200 kcal for breakfast and lunch (depending on what I include).
Yes, you are right, you just need to get over it. Harden The F&%$ Up.
You get in the calories by waking up nice and early. You go to bed early, for a reason, so you can get up early. You get up early for a reason, so you can take time to eat your wonderful, energizing gorgeous fruit. Not to be rushed, to be savoured with every bite.
Next, get a bag, stuff it with more fruit than you can possibly eat. Make everyone talk about you. send out the positive vibe and get people interested. You take more fruit than you need, so you can offer it to your colleagues as a vegan gift.
soon, they too will begin eating a little more. Spread the word through your good vibes.
If people ask why so many bananas, it's simple, because you are just a little monkey.
today i gave my colleague a kiwi and some apricots...then he inhaled it. i guess because after the look on my face he said "haha yeah, ..i needed vitamins!". aaah, the poor people who live primarily off of animal products, and look at my fruit like a treasure. : ) no body critisized me either.....exept one person who 6 months ago had a heart attack, she told me i eat too much sugar. ...but its not really possible for a healthy person to take advice from a sick. so i just smiled.
haha, thanks for the idea!
