30 Bananas a Day!

50$

Can It be done?  Right now my budget is tight,  for food weekly is about 50$.  There are no bulk/wholesale buying options in my area.

Has anyone here done 100% LFRV on this amount of money?  Can you give me an example of what a shopping list might look like?

banana island until u have more money honey
Thanks, but I think I would probably go "bananas" if all I ate was bananas. :)
You'd be surprised at how amazing you feel actually. Try it for 3 days and let us know how you feel! (i already know you'll feel 110%)
I really wanna try this..hmm. cheap too. I SHOULD try this.
You WILL try this. :)
I think I stay pretty close to that as my food budget is pretty small, but I drink tons of banana smoothies. Thankfully, I love them, and can get bananas for 33 cents a lb. here.

I also buy bags of oranges as they are inexpensive at $1 - $2.50 per 4-lb. bag, depending on the season. And I watch for sales on other fruits as well. Yesterday I bought a large watermelon for $5 and it's actually good (but the store will issue a refund otherwise, so it's all good).

Do you have an Aldi where you live? Their produce prices are usually quite good. I also like Save-A-Lot, where I get the cheapest bananas.

I hope to someday be able to afford to eat organic, but for now I'm just trying to stay raw, or very nearly so.
The cheapest bananas I have seen are 49cents here, and the aldi's here always sells me rotting produce..buut I havent checked the Save - A - Lot in my area. I didn't even know they sold produce, Ill check that out tomorow, Thanks willow :)
That's too bad about your Aldi. They're really good about taking bad any bad stuff and refunding your money, and luckily it doesn't happen that often. The oranges have been outstanding, and for weeks they were only $1 per bag!
49 cents? You lucky you! I paid 99 cents yesterday for a kilo. That is the cheapest! The other day, I bought a 13 kg box of bananas for AU$16. They will last me three to four days. They are not that good yet. The best bananas to eat from my experience are the ones with brown spots and they usually almost ready to be thrown away. I blend five to seven pieces and some baby spinach to one litre smoothies. I have two litres each meal if I have a blender ready.

For cheap fruits and vegetables, you cannot beat the early morning fresh fruits and vegetables market. They sell them in boxes and you'll be surprise how much you can have for $50. Storage probably will be your next problem.
Im learning to love banana smoothies haha.

Yeah I think your right, Ill have to get out there and go to the little independent farmers markets (The "offical" farmers markets...are really high priced...worse than the grocer) I see stands on the side of the road often..:)
Better look at the shopping ads and base your grocery list on what is on sale!
We have ataulfo mangoes on sale at HEB 4/$1, you could get 200 - that's 28 a day!
I've been seeing grapefruits pop up for 10/$1 as well - 500 grapefruits!
Whole watermelons are 0.99 cents each! Cantaloupes 3/1$!
HEB also has papaya that their produce people cut and put in wrapping or containers and store on top of ice - it's less than a dollar a pound, seeds and skin excluded, what a deal!

Just gotta scout out those deals. Unfortunately it will probably all be conventional, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
What grocery stores do you shop at/have in your area?
Those prices sound great, but they never get that low at the stores in my area :(

Lemme see,....we have kroger, walmart, aldis(produce in aldis is normally bad), save-alot(never gone in there), food lion.....thats about it .
