Well your best options are things like dates, raisins, dried figs, mulberries etc. Whilst they'ret not as good as fresh fruit, they'll give you the necessary carbs for your trip, and they're a lot easier to transport! Just makes sure to drink lots of water. Also, take as much fresh stuff as you can manage to supplement, like some ripe nanas, oranges, apples etc.  Have fun! :)

I've been looking for suggestions myself. I've concluded that I'm going to bring dried fruit, like raisins and prunes. Then I plan on soaking them to make them more digestable. Also, if you're traveling in the future you could ask a lovely person to get a box of bananas ripening for you while you travel there. I plan on doing that too :) Good luck! Enjoy the WILD! Be Free!

I you bring dried fruit, soak them for a few hours before eating...then you will also have a delish sip of beverage left over...unless you are used to eating a lot of dried, it can cause problems suddenly eating alot on a hike...

Trader Joes has a good dried fruit section.  I have seen unsulfered dried mangoes there.

Oh man, they do! That would be the place for me to go to stock up for trips!

Does this site support cooked pasta, or do you have a source for 100% raw, ready to eat pasta? I am not implying that you should not have it, it is just tacky and unethical to mention it on this forum. If you think "Yong raw and free" would personally benefit from the suggestion, you should private message him with it.

the extra weight of carrying a cooking stove and the extra digestion time non fruit items need before they can become blood sugar render them relatively useless compared to the lightweight, fast digestion powers of simple sugars.

for sure complex carbs are an excellent back up plan but simple sugars are the bomb.

Climbed almost 4000 feet last weekend on dates, oranges, and tamarind :)

dates. take out the seed and stuff in extra date.
