As I understand it, the concept goes like this: Drugs are always bad. Disease is a healing process. Practice natural hygiene and you won't need all that Western medicine.
So why do wild animals suffer outbreaks of disease? Examples in frugivores:
This fungus is devastating bat populations now.
Here are a bunch of afflictions affecting primates:
Gorillas can get pneumonia and cancer.
Here are some killers of wild gorillas.
Gorillas and chimps have been devastated by ebola.http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1615177,00.html
So what am I missing?

Most people are not willing to die in the cause of population control. I'm not sure what natural hygiene has to offer if you look at it this way.
How can you possibly expect people to believe you weren't being disrespectful? From what I've read from you I think your intentions here are just to muck around and cause trouble. I don't think you're adding anything positive to this place.
(Because a smiley face neutralizes everything, right?)
Right on Adri!
Fiona does sound like a troll!!!
Going backwards in never the right answer. We need to move forward and realize that the current medical model is not a health model. Natural Hygiene simply offers a model for health. By following the tenets of Natural Hygiene, a person can make strides to return to health.
Our current SAD lifestyle needs the current medical model. A Natural Hygiene lifestyle would probably only benefit from a few aspects of the current medical model, most notably emergency medicine. The current medical model's ability to treat chronic disease is very sad, and does more harm than good. Using toxins (drugs) and invasive procedures (surgery) to treat disease seems ridiculous because it is ridiculous. However, humans have become very lazy in their reductionist mindset. They want quick, simple answers to their maladies alongside their fast-food meals. They want permission to continue eating crap, and a pill to supress symptoms offers that permission. Well, a pill will never cure cancer or heart disease...only the body can cure itself.
Diet cannot protect you from infectious disease? Are you sure about that?
Diet and lifestyle can definately offer enhanced immune system functioning and reduced risks of infection. There are no consistent guarantees, for sure, but they can definately offer some protection.
