30 Bananas a Day!

As I understand it, the concept goes like this: Drugs are always bad.  Disease is a healing process.  Practice natural hygiene and you won't need all that Western medicine.

So why do wild animals suffer outbreaks of disease?  Examples in frugivores:

This fungus is devastating bat populations now.

Here are a bunch of afflictions affecting primates:

Gorillas can get pneumonia and cancer.

Here are some killers of wild gorillas.

Gorillas and chimps have been devastated by ebola.

So what am I missing?

I think these outbreaks are nature's way of keeping population control. Humans bypass it, thus pretty soon we'll have a population bust. So Natural Hygiene works wonderfully, but one has to come in terms with one's mortality....ie. Nature does not guarantee a recovery. Most people will heal nicely using fasting, or just correcting towards rightful living, but even then, our environment is so twisted already, that a little help from an herb might be needed sometimes (which natural hygiene does not agree with)

Most people are not willing to die in the cause of population control.  I'm not sure what natural hygiene has to offer if you look at it this way.

How can you possibly expect people to believe you weren't being disrespectful? From what I've read from you I think your intentions here are just to muck around and cause trouble. I don't think you're adding anything positive to this place.

Sorry :)

(Because a smiley face neutralizes everything, right?)

Right on Adri!

Fiona does sound like a troll!!!

Are you saying all users of this site have to buy into (or at least not object to) every idea under the banner of natural hygiene?

Going backwards in never the right answer.  We need to move forward and realize that the current medical model is not a health model.  Natural Hygiene simply offers a model for health.  By following the tenets of Natural Hygiene, a person can make strides to return to health.

Our current SAD lifestyle needs the current medical model. A Natural Hygiene lifestyle would probably only benefit from a few aspects of the current medical model, most notably emergency medicine.  The current medical model's ability to treat chronic disease is very sad, and does more harm than good.  Using toxins (drugs) and invasive procedures (surgery) to treat disease seems ridiculous because it is ridiculous.   However, humans have become very lazy in their reductionist mindset.  They want quick, simple answers to their maladies alongside their fast-food meals.  They want permission to continue eating crap, and a pill to supress symptoms offers that permission.  Well, a pill will never cure cancer or heart disease...only the body can cure itself.

Fiona the only reason "average life expectancy" statistics looks so good today is because of birthing survival rates. Take that variable out of it and this synthetic medicine-dominated age has very little to show for keeping people alive longer than in many other ages.
In short Natural Hygiene is a practice of rightful living, and getting out of the way of spontaneous healing of diseases. Fasting is the main healing modality. Once symptoms recede, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts in their unprocessed state can be consumed.

It stipulates, that the body is an intelligent entity perfectly capable of keeping itself alive.

Hey Fiona

Diet cannot protect you from infectious disease? Are you sure about that?

Diet and lifestyle can definately offer enhanced immune system functioning and reduced risks of infection. There are no consistent guarantees, for sure, but they can definately offer some protection.

Take care

Fiona makes a good point. I think also that perhaps the diet we came from contained things that were not kind to our immune systems, whereas when eating raw vegan we are taking in less of these insulting substances and taking in many more vitamins, minerals and components that actually boost our immune systems. Of course the effect will contrast more the lousier our starting diet and lifestyle was.
Erthmum, nicely put.
I have a close friend who goes there every year. Has taken them every time, has gotten it every time. He's an Atkins fruit-phobe too.
