Can renal failure be caused by a diet high in animal products? Based on what I read about presence of toxins in the system, loss of calcium, etc it sounds like it might be tied in with ketosis in at least some cases. I know this is what killed Dr. Atkins so I'm wondering if I'm just grasping at straws or if there are some solid links here?
(My dad is very resistant to becoming fully vegan, let alone fully raw, and swears by his short-term success on Atkins as a teenager even though he is in pretty poor health currently. I need all the science I can get.)

Thanks! Read the description, sounds great :)
