Was just wondering if I need to up my fat intake over 10% while pregnant/breastfeeding?
Does my baby need to eat higher fat too?
I've seen Ellen Fisher feed Elvis coconut meat and avocados which got me thinking
I'm currently at 16 weeks
Also what is a healthy amount of weight to gain throughout a high carb vegan pregnancy?
I have no idea about the subject, but i assume the baby gets all the fat it needs through breastfeeding..
I've had 2 vegan pregnancies and eat whatever I like or crave and stay away from things that upset or bother me in any way. I cut out all salt/sodium unless natural like in tomatoes and celery - that 'cures' almost all problems. I gained 25-30 lbs with my 1st vegan baby and 30-35lbs with my second. I had almost 8 lb baby girls, lost the weight in 2 weeks with the first and 9 days with the second. These were my 9th and 10th babies. I ate REALLY well with the 1st vegan pregnancy - started transitioning at 4 months and by the last 3 months was completely vegan, eating 4500-6500 calories per day. I didn't eat alot of fat, maybe a 1/4 cup per day of nuts, but I didn't hold back. That was my absolute best pregnancy and delivery! Not quite as good with the second as I ate alot of junk, had pizza with cheese and ice cream-cleaned up the last 2-3 months, but it was too little too late. More painful labor and a little longer recovery without a blissful pregnancy. They were born in Sept. 2012 and Jan. 2014. They do wonderfully bulking up with just nursing on demand and me eating much, much better after birth! :)
Hope this helps...if you have any more questions you can message me. Have a great day!
