30 Bananas a Day!

Has anyone heard of or tried this fruit? I just found out about it and I'm super curious.

Its a cross between a plum and an apricot but it's not genetically modified.

"Floyd Zaiger, a farmer-geneticist, introduced pluots in the 1980s after cross-breeding plums and apricots by hand pollination, not genetic modification."

They're supposed to be very sweet. I've never seen or heard of these before here in Maine. Are they popular outside of New England?

I'm in the U.S. Of A. I've been eating these since the late 90s. I've seen them in Michigan (where I'm originally from), North Carolina, where I was from 1996 til mid 2000, and here in Alaska, where I currently reside. There are several strains of these hybrid pluots now. I've had gold ones, blush ones, some that were bicolor. They have all been sweet, and juicy.

Crazy! Ive never heard of them until yesterday. I wonder why I never see them in Maine or New Hampshire! I could see myself eating those all day :D

Mmmm I love pluots! I've only ever seen them in Arizona, but I haven't searched for them elsewhere. In my opinion, they are more like a plum than an apricot, but they taste better (;

I just bought a container of some goldish bi-colored Pluots, yesterday, at my local Sam's Club. YUM!

lucky! I got some dried pluots and they were extremely sour and tough :(

IMO all apricots when dried always taste rather sour (compared to fresh ones)

unless added sugar used as in the popular turkish apricot prepacked 'snacks'.

I froze some juicy sweet fresh apricots earlier,but they had lost most of their sweetness even during freezing.

I have no idea how the PLUM-part of Pluot would turn out either dried or frozen.

I have not seen dried pluots.
As sweet as they are fresh, I couldn't imagine them being sour. Sounds like they were picked too early, in an over abundance, and to try to not lose too much money, they dried them.
I'm sorry you experienced that. :(
