30 Bananas a Day!

Please welcome Freelee's newly vegan brother Peter to 30bad!!

[Looking quite emaciated from protein/efa/iron deficiency aren't we Pete? ;))) ]

Pete like his sister is very much into health and fitness. He has also recently began practicing a vegan diet, he's not raw (yet..), but he is one of the most passionate and outspoken individuals on veganism I have yet to encounter, so we at 30bad have decided to invite him here!

He has been articulately expounding the veg/ar gospel from the Facebook rooftops the past couple weeks, and you would not believe the callous and nasty things some of his charred flesh eating 'friends' have been saying to him. In spite of the overwhelming opposition he has been standing his ground and responding to his critics both respectfully and with great conviction every time!

It also seems that many folk on Facebook would prefer political correctness and 'being nice' rather than knowing the truth about factory farming and the terrible health consequences of a diet high in animal fats and proteins. We here have little time for such illusions, which is all the more reason for Pete to have joined us here.

So please let Pete know what an awesome community this is by giving our new friend a most warm welcome, worthy of an equatorial climate ;DDD

Please add him as a friend while you're here peeps:

There's no scrawniness a lil powdered deer antler velvet can't fix. I'd send you some of mine, Pete, but I can't spare even a gram lest I shrivel like the wicked witch.
I guess tuna fish smoothies will have to suffice...

(Welcome in, BTW! :-)
Wow Peter welcome!

You're really great looking--it runs in the family!
Wow thanks for the great intro there B..

It's great to be here and thank you all so much for your assistance on facebook, I am extremely happy with my decision to become vegan and through my facebook posts I am even starting to "reach" a few of my "friends".. seriously :)

Even though I have only recently embraced the Vegan culture I can honestly say it is the best thing that has ever happened to me... Well besides being born and having FreeLee as a Sis that is!

Whilst receiving uninformed and misguided remarks on my facebook wall I came to the realization that this was an excellent lifestyle choice for me as I could remain level headed and answer all the valid questions with my head and my heart, knowing that my beliefs and the vegan culture were exactly the same.

I feel like I have always known of this faith yet because of my conditioning I somehow forgot.. it is great to be back, and back for good.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone here and sharing philosophies etc with you.

Yours in Peace

Pete
What first turned your eye to seriously consider and later experience the merits of veganism?
The great Anthony Robbins in his "living health" seminar highlighted the health issues of meat consumption and gave brief mention to how calves are separated from their mothers at birth and the inhumane treatment that follows just to make someone a meal.

I then started reading all I could on sites like PETA where I watched a short video called "Meet your Meat", conditioning from the get go of my life had helped my blind cause of blissful unawareness to the cruelty of animals and the truth of many other things I had never considered.

The change was in full affect immediately, no weening here, I would never enjoy meat again as I was no longer unaware of the reality, milk and eggs gone too :)

I have been rewarded already in a way I am eternal grateful for by embracing veganism:

I was booked into hospital a month earlier for surgery to be carried out on my sinus etc, I found out 2 days before the surgery was to be performed that it would cost an extra $3000 on top of the existing $3000 as I had not been aware of the private hospital and anaesthesiology fees.
So I canceled the surgery and decided I would wait until next year when my private health fund would cover a larger percentage of the overall cost.

Since then the above mentioned factors transpired in my life and my breathing is excellent, not to mention I used to go through a box of tissues every day, suffer severe sinus pressure, and cough and sneeze for seemingly little reasons. All these problems now gone.

The surgery was never needed, it was not the source of the problem.

In part I now believe that once someone is completely aware of animal cruelty yet still consumes animal flesh is committing a sin, the moment I was aware and embraced the vegan beliefs my health improved to a level in which I had rarely enjoyed before, I had been rewarded for my immediate consideration to the animals.

When you find something so wonderful and it costs you nothing to tell them about it then tell them about it... tell anyone who will listen... I'M GOING TO!

P
Many many of my friends have gone vego because of Peta so they are actually saving animals lives daily....killing 90% of the rescued animals? Is that because they are already knocking on death's door and no longer able to be saved? There will always be propaganda put out by the meat & dairy industry...I bet that's where this info has come from...
Can you supply extra info on this? Links and reports etc.
