30 Bananas a Day!

is it just me or does the vast majority of the US population not even know when a banana is truly ripe...

today i was at the store picking up a box and there was an older gentleman at the banana rack. there was a section of "ready to eat" bananas, most of which were actually very close to being ripe, some of them i would've eaten right then. so i asked this man "do you let your bananas get this ripe before you eat them?" "No, i like them like this," he said grabbing a bunch of still very GREEN bananas. lol WTF?! what has the human species devolved into

nobody in my family aside from my sister knows how to eat them ripe, and i had to encourage even her to wait longer to eat them because she said she didn't like bananas that much. now i've got her starting smoothies.

this lady who is a friend of my parents made a stupid comment to mewhile we were out to dinner eating with their family. she goes "C, i got you a bunch of rotten bananas!" apparently she said this because my mom was telling her about our disagreement over banana ripeness... my mom told her how long i wait to eat them, and the fatty thinks that that is rotten. i was just thinking like "well hey at least my skin doesn't look like it's rotting, biatch"

this family got a juicer because they had heard the benefits of a juice fast. they have money and could've made any fast they wanted to work out great. so basically they get some recipes off the internet, start juicing some greens with minimal fruit and after 3 days give up because "they were so hungry," and were craving other foods. pathetic. i even tried to help them at the dinner and explained why it didn't work for them

anyways, i supposed i'm just blessed to have found what i've found :)

The great mystery of unripe banana eaters...

Probably most people think that bananas are bad once they develop spots. Greengrocers and supermarkets have to try to buy 'just enough' bananas (usually their best selling fruit) before they develop too many spots as these don't sell so well. That's good for those of us who like our bananas spotted as they are often sold at a discount when they start developing spots. I nearly always buy bananas classed as 'seconds'. I even ask if they have some out the back which are 'seconds' which they wish to get rid of, cheaply of course.

lol so what i'm learning from this thread is that it might be better to just keep my mouth shut and use the fact that people will actually sell you ripe bananas for even cheaper than normal to my advantage!

Exactly! Just imagine all those 'suckers' out there who don't what a truly ripe banana tastes like. Many probably are eating starchy bananas!

i know. the foolishness of ppl is really kind of getting to me.

so i think how i'm going to handle is is by not saying a thing unless i'm asked. i'm just going to focus on myself now

i need friends in real life to talk about stuff i'm interested in

Hold out, they're out there.

Hey don't forget to give them some nice fresh ripe green tomatoes. If they like their bananas green, wait till they have their tomatoes green! Though that would probably be an acidic mess and might screw with their teeth... so on second thought maybe not :P
