Sorry if this is too much information, but when I eat pears I get major diarrhea, gas and bloating. If I eat only 1 pear, I'm okay. But a monomeal of pears - oh, it kills me! I had 4 pears for breakfast this morning and an hour or two later I was in the bathroom with butt pee. I had to go every 15-30 minutes! Awful. They really clean me out, I guess. It only seems to be the soft pears. I have no problem with Asian pears.
I don't think I can live like this, so I'm giving up (soft) pears. It is a shame, because they taste really good, and I enjoy having them in the fall. I like them, but they don't like me!
Does anyone else have this problem? Or do you have any ideas on how I might remedy the situation? If not, I'll just stop eating them. Maybe they just don't agree with me for some reason.
Yes, but its about how much is in the fruit, I believe pears contain the most though. I think 1 pear =4 apples in sorbitol .
Glad I'm not the only one who has had this experience! I ate 4.5 pounds for lunch today, and I had to go to the bathroom at least 10 times the same way you described. I'm pretty new to eating this way, but this has not happened to me with other fruit so far. I'm guessing it's the super high water content with not much sweetness. It's basically like you're just eating water and fiber. Your body doesn't have much (i.e. sugar) it wants to absorb from it, and it's not pure water either, so it just blasts it out :P Just speculation!
I'm going with only one at a time now.
