So April 1st is approaching and that day last year was when I officially signed up to the Vegan Society in order to make my final commitment to going vegan! I can't believe it's been a whole year; what an incredible journey of healing from my darkest days with an eating disorder.
I've decided to share some very personal photos with you all. It's taking quite a lot for me to do this but I hope that it will act as inspiration to others who may be suffering on their path to health and happiness.
I have achieved a healthy weight gain of over two stone and am consistently eating at least 3000 calories a day from my favourite fruits (up from 500). I no longer use cups of tea as a crutch and drink lots of water and coconut water and my skin is completely clear. I have given up all beauty products and sleep a full eight hours per night. I spend time meditating and practise yoga at least twice a day - I have been accepted onto an Ashtanga teacher training course in Thailand in September which I believe is my true calling in life. I simply love to be outdoors and my primary method of transport is my bicycle which I use to travel on average 15-20km per day. I am no longer stressed or obsessive and am very happy to go with the flow and accept whatever life brings. I have given away many of my material possessions, really stripping down to the basics and am now very conscious with money. I no longer feel the desire to spend or accumulate lots of 'stuff'. I have experienced so much mental clarity and live with such compassion; I have never been more grateful for my family, friends, food and the earth. I have courage in my own convictions and don't feel the compulsive need to overwork or please everybody like I used to. I am calm, mindful and happy and each day feel a closer connection with my inner light of awareness.
So here I am one year ago living a very sad and lonely life of restriction:
And here five months later on a cooked vegan diet:
And last week! Over six months living a fruity and compassionate lifestyle and training every day to be a yogini :)
Hooray for life! You're all such beautiful creatures and I hope to meet with many of you in the future to share our stories :) From a healthy, happy yogi who has found peace at last; namaste <3
