30 Bananas a Day!


Ok so I thought it would be a good idea to just have banana blogs here. (it would be awesome and helpful for newbies to see everyone's blogs under one roof, if that makes sense? :-)
We have another thread going here which has lots of island details....Please post your questions there and put a link to your question here so we can get to it and not interrupt the flow of the blogs too much, ofcourse commenting & supporting eachother on the island is encouraged!


This island most are going to has only bananas on it, for some it will have 2 fruits (like for myself banana and date) Some will have banana and greens also.  SO there are a few variations and that's why I'm requesting everyone record exactly what they eat because their results will vary depending on this. Please keep your island selection to a maximum of 2 fruits or 1 fruit & greens.


Arrive Monday 12th April, return 28th April 
(although if trip is going very well may extend)
Others may be already on the Island, we can meet them there...

Things to do on the island: (apart from lots of relaxation)

Record a daily blog on your experience here including how many bananas/or dates you have daily, water intake, exercise, sleep, sunshine and feelings...
Then we can really help eachother if some of us are undereating or dehydrated etc.

hmm interesting, I hope your nana's are ripe, it may take a day or 2 to adjust to eating just bananas, stick with it, don't unpack those bags yet girl.
they are totally ripe, been sitting in the case with a few apples for almost 2 weeks - the stems are black and the tips of the bananas are soft, almost fermenting - but inside they are sweet. If I pick the bunch up by the stems, they all fall off.

Yeh come on a few days in and you will find it much easier :)
they might be over-ripe. i know people push crazy ripe bananas on this diet, but honestly, i've found that i like them just getting spotty, the skin gets thinner and they get easier to peel, but you still have a firm banana.
Day 1 for me:

Breakfast/lunch: 10 Bananas
Dinner: 8 Dates
Pre-Bed Snack: 2 Dates

(This didn't seem like much to me and I was a bit hungry at times, but it put me over my daily allotment on Nutridiary by 216 calories - go figure!)

Excercise: 50 minutes aerobic on stairmaster-like thing
60 minutes circuit
65 minute dog walk

Water: 2.5 liters of water

Sunshine: 65 minutes with dog on walk

Sleep (Sunday): Approximately 8 hours

Feelings: I feel awesome. I'm so happy to have been guided to this site and to find out about 80/10/10. I wasn't feeling good as a raw vegan without the knowledge of fruit, fruit, fruit.

- This spring in New England has been exquisite; best I can ever remember
- I accidently kicked a tiny turtle on my walk, but he was ok
- I saw a really funny movie with my son, who is one of my best friends

I'm so glad you are finding being part of this community so helpful, isn't it great to learn that you can eat all the fruit you care for??! and you have to to maintain this lifestyle.

I can't imagine why you would go over your nutridiary allotment? It should be set so you maintain your current weight which would be more calories than you ate today im sure especially with that workout!...

Oh that's pretty random about the turtle! Glad he was fine.

Food: 18 medium bananas, more than yesterday but im planning on getting 20 down tomorrow

Exercise: 10 min jump rope, 30 min (me against the wind) bike ride haha, 30 min walk with my dog and lovely sister

Water: close to 3 liters

Sunshine: prob about 45 min

Sleep: 9 hrs, had a greatt sleep last night

Feelings: Woke up feeling great, but started to feel tired near the middle of the day.

Day 2:

Breakfast: 11 banana smoothie
Lunch: 8 bananas + 16 dates
Dinner: 9 banana smoothie
= 2802 kcal

15 minutes of pilates – 45 degrees Fahrenheit and rainy outside. Long workday yesterday and today. On my feet 14 hours, does that count as some form of exercise?

2.5 liters

0 – rainy and cold with overcast

7 hours

Honestly? I don’t know when the last time I felt this good. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a happy/energetic person, but no longer the same person I was 10 years ago…something happened when I entered the real world. But after the first few days on BI it’s like I’m on a high, but not a “flighty” high. Just a feel good, vibrant, happy, high. It’s refreshing. Woot!

I’m grateful for my energy.
I’m grateful for where I am right now in this moment.
I’m grateful for Lily, my Chihuahua, that greeted me this AM and was my cheerleader through my 15 minutes of pilates.
I’m grateful that I met my goal of increasing each meal with an additional banana.

Goal for tomorrow:
I have tomorrow morning off so I plan on getting a run in. Also want to strive for 3 liters of water like Day 1 and not just the 2.5 liters. Going to shoot for another 100 or so calories added to my day.
