I know I felt the same exact way.. Sometimes I really miss those spicy foods! But we have to remember once our body is so clean from going 8/1/1 all the way garlic would probally hurt and burn as we consume it since our body's become so sensitive.
I use to love garlic too and swear by its health benifits but after going 811 if i eat it i have the most horrible taste in my mouth in the morning and i get body odour again (-:
I thought garlic is a health food at first! and onions too! oh my sandwiches.goodbye
Exactly, Ienee! That's how I feel too...like I have a garlic hangover.
You can still eat onions raw!  I'm pretty sure of that! esp in salads and stuff.
Eat an entire bulb raw ;)
Challenge accepted! I'll let you know how it goes. :)
Good luck!

after this article I'm wary of the idea http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ptr.1281/abstract

it states "Raw garlic homogenate has been reported to exert antioxidant potential but higher doses have been shown to be toxic to the heart, liver and kidney."

sounds like a bulb can be toxic. But small amounts are beneficial. So not something you can consume for a mono-meal. Therefore not 811 approved.

me too...walla walla sweet onion sandwiches with mustard!
what about people who eat raw oinions like an apple? I sure can't...it makes me cry just looking at it. Tells me to stay away from it! But people who can eat them all up raw and enjoy them, does that mean their body does well with it?

I think that the best way to truly end your desire for garlic and onions is to simply go a while without eating them (30 days would be a good amount of time)  If you spend 30 days or more following this diet 100% and then you suddenly try to eat some garlic or onions you will wish that you hadn't.

I used to eat them all the time as well and it wasn't until I took a break from eating them for a while that I realized the effects that they were having on me.  (I enjoy a high energy, smooth digestion, and deodorant free lifestyle way too much to start eating garlic and onions again.)
