So for the past week or so I've been waking up in the middle of the night because of a nightmare. When I wake up my heart is usually pounding pretty fast. Like last night I had a nightmare that I was in that movie Jurassic park and a dinasour was chasing me. I haven't seen that movie in years so why would I have a nightmare about it? It's just weird. I'm a full time nanny and I don't get a lot of time to rest during the day so when I have nightmares I feel like I'm not getting any sleep. Is there anyway I can make the nightmares go away? My dad gets anxiety so do you think maybe I have anxiety too? I do get stressed sometimes. I quite drinking caffeine(from tea) about a week and half ago. Could that have anything to do with it? I'm usually raw but do have some cooked veggies at night occasionally.
Hope you guys are having a great day!
Do you eat garlic?? Cos it gives me nightmares...I don't eat it anymore of course :)
Haha, nope I don't eat garlic! That's interesting how it gives you nightmares! Never would have guessed! :)
In my experience, the combination of anxiety & night terrors are largely a result of food allergies. My food allergies also caused hypoglycemia, so I would wake up from very scary dreams with my heart pounding like crazy. For starters, if you've removed caffeine completely from your diet (not just tea), you're probably going through withdrawls & should be fine in a week. You could also be sensitive to sugar, so you may need to be careful about your food timing on a fruit-based diet. How long have you been on fruit for?
I went off gluten and became vegan 2 years ago when I was 16. I've been mostly raw vegan for a year and a half. I noticed a huge difference in everything once I took gluten and animal products out of my diet. I should be fine after a couple weeks of being off caffeine I think.
Imagining that you are surrounded by white or gold light in your dream can instantly turn a nightmare into a beautiful dream. Or after you wake up imagining being surrounded by light as you fall back to sleep can protect you from nightmares. Meditation in general esp yoga would be very helpful.
The light meditation from tantra yoga:
Thanks! I'll try yoga before bed. I just bought a yoga mat and have been doing it in the mornings. Love it!
Coming off any drug can produce nightmares. I had nightmares for about 2 weeks after coming off of weed.
i'm prettty sure i did coming off caffeine too.
It helps to take the time to wind down before bed. Doing slow breathing, mediation of lying down on the floor with your legs up the wall for about 10 minutes can be super helpful.
I think the last time I saw the movie was when I was 10 or 11 with my older brother. It was kind of scary for me when I was younger. I did see the commercial for the new one but that was a while ago. It's weird how you can have dreams so random lol
I used to have nightmares ALL THE TIME! That was before I kicked dairy out of my diet :) Now, being vegan, the only thing that gives me weird dreams is (dairy-free) chocolate. I always go for the simpliest ingredient, but sometimes it is still really processed. Cocoa powder definitely gives me nightmares/acne, but I am not sure if raw cacao gives me nightmares. I bought some RAW cacao tonight to try it out! I will have it tomorrow in my nana smoothie!
