30 Bananas a Day!

Picking up a giant box of dried dates tomorrow from my wholesaler (yay!). Do you think I should put these babies in the fridge or on my dandy produce shelf? I noticed at some stores they have them in the refrigerated section, white at others they are at room temperature with other produce. What do ya'll think is better? Thanks!

Did you just create that pic?? Sweet!

You may find they don't last that long! :)

but, yes, that's a good idea.  Longer than a couple weeks, the freezer (in ziplocks for instance) works very well too.  I think the gooeyer (sp?) ones are the more fragile and likely more prone to mold, so take care of them better than you might the drier ones.

Hehehe, I got a wee bit carried away with fun on Photoshop :) I started believing those little guys were going to be cold in there!

I never thought of the freezer; that's a great idea, too. Thanks, Winlord!

Well, my ten pound box is fresh, so it really needs to go in the fridge, huh?
I but everything thats already ripe and I'm not ging to eat right away either in the fridge or freezer.
Put them all in the fridge for now, except a small handful.  Leave them at room temperature, uneaten, and see how long they last.  Then you'll have your answer.
Thanks so much everyone! Picked them up this morning & these babies look very gooey, so I think to be safe I'm going put 'em in the fridge, because I had some peaches go moldy on my shelf. So excited to dig in!
Sometimes dates are too dry .. especially if you're going to use them in a blender. I keep part of my dates soaking in water .. in the fridge. I use them in a high powered blender so for me it's not as important as if you're using them in a regular blender. It just depends on what you're using them for. I just like my to be very plump.

I just ordered 5kg, how long will they last in the fridge? It might take me some time to get through them.

I got 55 lbs, should I put them all in the fridge?

we normaly keep them in one of our kitchen drawers because they dont last long enough to go bad
