Hi everyone,
After following various discussions and blogs here on 30BaD for a few weeks, I finally decided to take the plunge and register an account. I'm not exactly new to raw or even lfrv, having first eaten a diet consisting only of raw fruit and veg around 1997. Back then I had no idea what I was doing really, having read only a single raw food book which happened to have an emphasis on fruit, I only knew that this diet made me feel good. However, due to various mistakes such as eating far too few calories and not having any greens, I eventually went back to cooked food and didn't look back for almost 8 years until I went back on raw in 2005. Since then I have been trying to recapture what I experienced when I first went raw. It took me until this summer to finally figure out that I had been eating too much fat and too little fruit. I've been back on lfrv for a few weeks now and it's simply amazing how much better I feel.
However, I have some trouble figuring out how many calories I should be eating per day. Going by hunger doesn't work for me, as I only tend to come up to 1700 that way. In several posts, I have come across the notion of 10g carbs/kg body weight. Now my question is, does that apply to one's ideal weight or ones current weight? Thing is I'm heavy for my height, 103kg at 1.75m and according to the formula I would have to eat loads, especially since calories from protein and fat are added as well. Could anyone enlighten me upon this point, please?

Good on you for taking the plunge! Great to have you on board with us. This category doesn't get as much attention as the others so best to put questions in the HCRV category.
We don't recommend going by hunger here, its too subjective. I recommend you download www.cronometer.com and yes 10g carbs/kg body weight is correct. You DO need to eat loads (for me this is a blessing). Just do it for a week or two and see how you feel. You have the formula and the website. Please get the 80-10-10 book if you haven't already :)
Welcome! :)
The formula is for your current weight, add more for activity. What happens when people under eat for their current weight is they get hungry and low on energy. The high carb formula gives you a good mood and high energy which gets you active.
