Just came home from it. Wasn't expecting that strong message either, but was pleased to see it on such a big stage.
Hoozah! Promoting Vegan like a boss
SADLY - the Bible is disappointing. As god gave Noah permission to eat meat and set humanity to a spiraling course of cancer and disease ^_^
New King James Version (NKJV)
3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
Well, if you read it in english that's what is says, but in latin and greek there's a whole different message, and can easily be interpreted as "care for all living things, eat the herbs and don't eat the blood" Some Jehova's Witness people only eat dried meat because of that, which is totally stupid...
Anyways, Darren Arronofsky is a vegan and he really put that strong vegan message in there :)
It is sad. But I think it happened because immediately after the flood there wouldn't have been enough fruit or crops available YET to sustain Noah and his family. I believe meat was only meant to be consumed as an emergency backup plan. We really have no reason or excuse for consuming it now except for our own destructive stupidity as humans. Not to mention the major corporations that feed our ignorance and promote completely skewed health standards.
So the sad part was not God's allowance to eat what we had to, it was once again man's corruption in taking it too far for greed or pleasure.
That's great. I hadn't heard of this movie before. Looking forward to checking it out!
April 9 update: The looniest person in the world is criticizing "Noah" because of it's "Pro-Animal" view....says it's not true to the Bible.
So thanks Glen Beck for making decency and veganism look even better.
I've heard the movie isn't true to the Bible, but that probably has a lot to do with other aspects of it. Even in the Bible, God is obviously "pro animal" so to speak.
So good to hear a vegan message that mainstream folks will hear!
And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, which has seed in its fruit; to you it shall be for food.
I found about an A4s worth of text from the Bible in favour of vegan/vegetarianism. A Christian I know was saying the Bible said to eat meat, so I printed these quotes out and gave it to them, not sure if they read it.
Strange thing though is that it was Cain who offered fruits and vegetables to God and Abel who practiced animal sacrifice. Some say Cain was the first murderer but it was Abel who killed animals previous. Who is to say how that story has been changed to be in favour of the animal flesh industry/ forces of darkness working toward suppression of the divine human spirit. In Zoroastrian texts it says the devil is related to the consumption of animal flesh and man losing his luminous mind/grace. http://www.30bananasaday.com/forum/topics/vegetarianism-poetic-gathas
I believe what we consume is related to our level of consciousness/ awareness etc, such can be found Brahman/Hindu texts with the Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. This effects both the inner and outer world.
In terms of vibration/ energy I wonder how far we could lift this planet up if many lived a vegan life.
i found the increasing number of cancer deaths a good HCLF vegan message too.
