30 Bananas a Day!

I went on the raw till 4, for three days... I was consuming 2000 each day, and eating mono fruit meals till 4 and cooked rice/vegies/vegan veggie soups for tea :)

After day 3, I noticed my heart rate was raised and that my breathing on the 3rd day was really bad when I went for a small 5km jog... On the fourth day I decided to do the Raw till 4 transition a little slower and just start with cutting down to breakfast being my only mono fruit meal... then start doing breakfast and lunch as a fruit mono meal e.c.t....

I've been taking multi-vitamins and B12..

I've recently fallen really sick and I'm so unbelievably lethargic...I'm not too sure if it's just a really bad flu but I've been bed ridden all day. I've just gotten up and been able to walk...

Can anyone let me know if my symptoms are detox. Because if they are it doesn't feel right.. I've never been bed ridden in my life and so weak and in a lot of pain...I'm hoping I've gotten a bad flu or something because I was scared and went back to eating normally for a bit till I am better..

And I must add that I eat very healthy and for 4-5 years I've been eating close to a vegetarian diet. :)

It could be detox if you are coming from a previous diet of animal products like dairy and eggs.

Under eating will cause lethargy and you are under eating.  Why 2500/3000 Calories A Day?

It could also be more than that, but we really need more info:

If you are still having difficulties breathing, I recommend seeing a doctor.  No matter how perfect our diet or how healthy we are overall, this is not a fountain of youth or exempts us from illness.  Make sure you are not having a medical emergency and get treatment if needed.

Having said that...

In concur with Shell on upping the calories.

Unless your doctor has recommended them for some reason, with the exception of b12, we usually do not recommend multivitamins otc around here.  They can cause side effects in some people.

Instead, track your nutrients on a site like www.cronometer.com and focus on nutrient dense foods.  For example, eating more calories from oranges during the day, and lowering rice intake will exponentially increase some vitamins and minerals.

For many people who eat enough calories and eat nutrient dense foods, most nutrient goals are met on most days without need of vitamins.

In many cases, detox symptoms are actually mistaken for side effects such as an allergy to a certain kind of food (ie me and pineapple) to being sensitive to some of the antinutrients in some vegan foods such as oxalate acid and phytates.

The following list might help you tweak your diet and you can read our blogs to further trouble shoot issues:

  • Daily Recipe for Long Term Success
  • Minimum Calories: Females: 2500 Males: 3000
  • Whole, raw, ripe plant foods. (ie RT4: Steam potatoes: not a bag of chips.)
  •  ½-2 heads of lettuce greens.  (Not high oxalate kale, chard, and spinach.)
  • Get a palm of raw nuts or seeds.
  • Low fat: not no fat! (5-10% of calories average)
  • Simple meals. Rotate foods for maximum nutrient exposure.
  • Drink enough water. Urinate (almost) clear.
  • Early nights with 8-12 hours for rest, repairs, and muscle fat burning.  Get some zzz time before midnight.
  • Exercise and resist gravity 30 minutes.
  • Sunbathe 30 minutes for vitamin D and healthy bones and teeth.
  • Lower stress triggers.  Stress releases weight gain hormones.
  • lOOk Outward beyond the self. Better the planet.  Do not self flagellate.
  • Avoid comparison traps. Be your REAL self and not your social media guru's highlight reel.
  • Aloha to 30BaD's Science Welcome Wagon!

Feel Better Soon and Peace, PK

Thanks heaps :)

I also eat organic fruit and veg from farmers market. So it's not exactly the quality of the fresh produce!

Whats your diet like when you aren't eating vegan? Processed foods, meat - eggs - dairy? When I went raw for a month when i was 16 I had a detox and my tongue was just covered in filth. Just think of all the things your exposed to that might not be healthy. Air quality? Drinking tap water?
