I was at the health food store with my best friend and when I was checking out I saw a basket of cherimoyas by the counter! I got really excited and grabbed one, it was $8.46 but I figured I would 'splurge' for the experience. The cashier asked what kind of fruit it was, like if it was like a mango or something.
I said I didn't think so because it has seeds instead of a pit,I mentioned it's also called a custard apple and that I knew it was supposed to be very sweet.
Later back in the parking lot my friend asked how I knew about cherimoyas so of course I mentioned this awesome online community 30bad ;).
I got home and did some research and realized I picked a ripe cherimoya! So I tried it and it was mind blowing! I loved it :D. So many wonderful flavors! My family liked trying it too :).
They are super good!
So good! I ate the skin too and it kind of left a bitter after taste...definitely didn't ruin my experience though! I guess you're not supposed to eat the skin? But gr! If they weren't 8$ a pop here I'd buy a bunch of them, decent amount of calories for their size :)
I don't think they're in season, otherwise I would be eating them right now :)
I love them, but in the past I also bought cherimoyas that I had to "throw away"... because of the taste or because the little white worms inside them :)
OMg, I had the same experience when i first tried one!! Tasted just like a sweet tart but healthy. Sadly, It has only happened once. The last few were never as good.
I ate many this season. They're one of the yummiest fruits in the world!!
