Hey I was watching it and wondered what everyone thought about it? No one on this show is as strict as 30badders but it seems they are judged and everyone friends and family are forcing them to eat pizza and telling them to stop obsessing. Most people in my life tend to eat healthier when they're around me or we both eat our own way. If I go to the restaurant I'll eat before or after, or even bring my food to the restaurant. I've taken in a whole cantaloupe to Mexican Restaurants and asked the server for a plate and knife w/o any problems half the table ended up eating cantaloupe with me in addition to their mexican food because it was so good. I've eaten an entire papaya in rafferty's and the server himself had me pop a bite in his mouth between tables ;)
Don't get me wrong sometimes it's a hassle to eat this way and I have days I get frustrated as well, but it seems the people MTV is following don't have nearly as strict of a diet but bigger issues with it...
What does everyone think? Orthorexia? MTV's True life etc thoughts...
well, I think there is huge gap between eating healthfully and being crazy about eating healthfully.
Exaclty! Not only do I eat healthfully, but I am also crazy about it.... Totally!
I disagree with whoever earlier said HCRV is simple or easy. For me, and many others, it is not easy or simple.
I have been a 'standard vegan diet dude' since 1994. I now am religiously 80-10-10 (more like 86-7-6). I still have melon belly, and I can't figure it out.
I have been 811 since August. No caffeine. No alcohol. No condiments. Moderate activity. Good blood work, which has been tested twice in the last 6 months.
I have very few overt fats, that doesn't seem to make a difference. The only way I can have ZERO melon belly is to have six meals. If I have three meals at 800-1000 kc, I will most def have melon belly. I am combining very well, and mono-meals are a sure fire way to get melon belly for me.
I do seem to get relief if I eat a lot, and I mean 2 lbs/day, (I'm 130 lbs) of greens with my meals.
For me to follow a strict mono-meal philosophy, and eat three meals per day, and get 3000 kc? Impossible without melon belly, in my experience. I have heard this from others as well.
People who thrive on this diet, tend to blog, post, and rightfully brag. Those who have trouble, get frustrated and tend to go silent. This is also my experience, as I have not been on here for 2 or 3 months, probably.
Believe you me, I have blogged, asked, been advised of more sites, and links, then I care to count. At the end, people either, don't believe me, or think I am doing something wrong.
My assessment? I simply think my system, at age 51, needs some time to get used to this.
I was disgusted at this episode which looks like it must have been backed by the dairy, meat and egg industry. And what struck me was that the three subjects who supposedly "suffered" from orthorexia looked so much healthier and made more sense than anyone around them, including the health counselors! Totally absurd!
