Please get in touch if you are planning on living in Thailand,
Hey, I've lived in Bangkok for the last 4 years. If you want to know anything just ask.
I don't really know much about what you could do for work, I have a few English teacher friends, and also a few friends that work for international companies, but I wouldn't know what you would have to do to get one of these jobs.
Durianriders prices are correct if you want to live in a city outside of Bangkok. Would be a studio room also, about 20 - 30sqm. As far as living in BKK, you would need to be on the outskirts of the city to find something for less than $100/month but it is possible.
And there are fruit markets everywhere. I buy 15 6inch Bananas for 55 baht. 1kg of Mangos for 30 baht...lol.
I would like to move to Thailand in the near future. What job areas have openings? I have an advanced science degree and 9 years in the aerospace industry. I can also teach English and other subjects. I do not mind doing this and living simply. In fact I would prefer it that way.
In looking over Thailand what areas would you consider most peaceful. I know you live in BKK but of Chang Mai, Chanthiburi, etc what are the best areas and what do you have experience with.
Hey, can't help you too much with the job side of things as I don't know too much about it. I did talk to my teacher friend a while back and he said it wouldn't be a problem finding a teaching job in Thailand without credentials though.
But as far as places to live peacefully, if you don't mind not having a beach then CM would be the best imo.
The places that I have been to that I recommend are Koh Chang, Koh Phanghan and Phuket (but not in the tourist infested area). These are all beachtowns/islands with good weather, friendly people and everything is generally quite cheap.
