30 Bananas a Day!

I've personally found that the more sleep I have the better I feel. When I left my job and started getting more sleep I noticed a huge difference. Even though I thought I felt better on less sleep while I was doing it. Saw this McDougall video just now where he recommends 6 - 7 hours. Says if you get less sleep you'll be more hyper. I think he's a little too hyper in these videos personally lol. More sleep for him eh? Maybe if you're healthy and not working out too much you can get away with that little sleep on a consistent basis but I think if you're depressed you've probably got healing to do and sleep is great for that.

I agree with you... If you are depressed, ill, working hard, you need more sleep. Yesterday I was sitting all day and being mostly calm. Today I wake up after 7hours. When I'm stressed I sleep 10-12hours.


Man, my friends complain about not being able to sleep in because of their kids. I am a single mom and I sleep in every single day! I go to bed around 9pm and get up at 7am. This last weekend I had to go to a family party and wasn't in bed before midnight. I woke up at 7 feeling absolutely exhausted. SLEEP works!!! I say go for at least 10hrs. I'm not a doctor like McDougall but I am a firm believer in a looooooooootta sleep!!! :))

Plus, I love it when people say I need to sleep this much to undo the damage I am doing to my body on this lifestyle. It's just after: "Hey, have you lost weight again, what are you doing?" I always say: "I undid all the damage I did to my body on SAD by sleeping this much, you should try it too!" :))

Ya alarms suck. I usually feel like getting up after 10 hours and I believe you shouldn't have to force yourself to get up too much

Baseline= How much would we sleep in a tropical location with no electricity? 

Perhaps but remember that before we had electricity we had fire for thousands of years and we didn't always sleep outdoors.

Apparently back in the "settler" days when there really was no electricity and everyone slept together in "packs" haha, our sleeping patterns were somewhat like this: Go to bed at around 5pm because that's when the sun went down, then there would be this phase around 4am where some people would wake up to look-out for predators, then we'd fall back asleep for another 3-4 hours and wake up when the sun rose or later. I mainly learned this against a defence for sleeping pills (which are bad), and people who think that they wake up in the middle of the night are somewhat messed up, are really not - perhaps its just an engrained evolutionary thing set in our brains to naturally wake up in the middle of the night. 



I don't wake up in the middle of the night too often. Useless caveman I would be in this sense

I wake up to pee that's about it ;P maybe my pee would scare away predators? lol
