30 Bananas a Day!

Man... i get to eat all the fruit i can - what a lifestyle!

Hey All,
time to introduce myself. Well, i'm a brand spanking newbie. I can't say that i've been a Vegan or a Vegatarian for x amount of years or have any redeemable claim to fame when it comes to this lifestyle... yes i'm coming from the Dark side.

So a bit of back ground and my motivations... for the last 10+ years i've tried most diets to get myself in shape... i can't even say that i've ever really been fat on the other side of the coin i've never really been super lean either - just in between and to the normal eye you'd say i'm healthy.

And there's the rub! You see, when i have been in the shape i want to be for my chosen sport cycling i've had to starve myself on a caloric deficit and as you probably know this takes a mighty discplined mind to keep to starving yourself - inevitably i always fail and put all the weight back on. I'm Sick Of It! And i think this lifestyle will solve this problem - cause if i'm eating right... i can eat as much as i like without torturing my body and still reach my goals - especially the ones i thought were out of reach.

The other thing that has attracted me to this lifestyle is that i work in a stressful job in a fast paced industry and in order to perform my best i need to give my body the best nutrition possible + stripping away all the bullSh*t... i really just want to get back to making life a bit more simple.

So there you go guys - my motivations are somewhat selfish and that's the honest truth however i also know that in the process of changing my habits i will inadvertantly become another part of the collective good that this lifestyle represents.

Above all i want to keep it real - so i thank you in advance for your support and hopefully i can provide the same.

It's alright Mark.  I came from the darkside too and I only started in April.  Welcome to a world of abundance and happiness.

Awesome choice Mark, you'll reply see some changes, I did and I was a vegan before 811! Claims to fame aren't necessary and veganism is never about trying to be better than someone, which is the reason we don't consume animal products!

It's ok to look after yourself. It took my mind time to evolve into the ethical issues, and to feel ok to give myself credit rather than saying 'oh it is just my preference and is the same is eating meat'.

thank you ever so much for your warm welcome... it's great to be amongst people who care about their health and those of others.

I tell you the biggest issue i'm having at the moement (and only 2 days in - so isuspect this will change) is that i can't eat enough to hit the calories required so i'm pretty much eating constantly... is this right, doesn't matter?
Don't worry about constant eating, it's impossible to eat too much on this lifestyle! Just look at all the long term people, they all are trim and fit! Cronometer is a great website to monitor calories, get at least 3000 per day, more if you're exercising.

Just be ready for a quick 10 second answer if people wonder why you're eating so much fruit!:)

yep, newbie relative term for sure!

8 months for me..

at the beginning I wasn't weighing my food (seemed so counter-intuitive) even though I'd bought a kitchen scale.  When I did start weighing my bananas and dates, I was really uncarbed!

makes such a difference to be carbed up... sleep wise, mood wise, energy wise.. brain wise.. 

you'll be stoked...
