30 Bananas a Day!

Out of all my reading here i still do not know what to do about juices. I must have missed the juice debate?

Can somebody please give me the answer to whether or not juicing is recommended?

Please address the against arguments:

1. no fiber>>>floods the blood with sugar to fast

2. (not so important because i can brush but..)damaging to teeth because most fruits brush your teeth while eating them

@Wendy,

At this point, I have evidence based on personal experience of myself and others on the 30BaD team, as well as from those I have advised.

This is the short term conclusion we have come too:

Do not Juice:  Eat foods in their natural whole form:

Some of our members have had troubles with juicing such as indigestion, sour and or acidic stomach, acid reflux,  blood sugar spikes, dizziness and brain fog, diarrhea, constipation, and inability to absorb and assimilate calories, vitamins and minerals in spite of high calorie count. The high sugar and acid content of some juices may give some people teeth pain and issues.

Juicing removes the fiber from the fruits n veggies. Fiber is much needed in the intestines to regulate hydration and water absorption, to slow down digestion so that the body can slowly and properly assimilate vitamins and minerals, prevents blood sugar hikes, and prevents diarrhea and constipation.

Without this fiber, nutrients, calories, and carbohydrates can pass right through the system without being digested and assimilated and possibly lead to unwanted weight loss and or malnutrition.

It is better to train the digestive system right from the beginning to properly chew, digest, and assimilate fruits and leafy greens.  If you are having a difficult time with calories, then smoothies might be a compromise.  With smoothies, the whole fruits and greens are blended and some of the fiber is still intact.

I have also written something somewhere regarding the soluble fiber benefits of fruits, and will try to track it down.  Think of soluble fiber as filling the intestines with a gel like substance.  This slows down digestion slightly so the body can properly assimilate and digest the nutrients in food, and so the body can properly hydrate itself.

In contrast to that, it also speeds up elimination and provides for smooth bowel movements compared to SAD and or starch based diet.

One more thought is that in nature, animals do not juice their foods.  It seems we are meant to eat foods in their whole, raw, and pure form.

Peace, PK

Well said PK! :)

thanks pk, you rock!

I have always thought it was no good but I have seen lots of people on this forum suggesting it, even yesterday somebody advised me to do it, so I was confused with all this conflicting info.

name the names would help so we can go to them show then the evidence and science if they don't know it and outwardly seeking to advise people

the way i see it there is a juice feast click going and it makes some money telling people how to avoid getting proper amino acids via fiber transporters , idk.

"The last two days I have made an amazing juice in my GreenPower: 1 whole cantaloupe 3 carrots, a wedge of lime...it was so amazing, kept me smiling for hours. Both days this was my first meal, right after yoga practice, and I was totally blissed out till supper time.

I think you should do what you feel is best for you. If you don't have time to juice, don't, just eat the fruit and salads. I make time for juices, and I enjoy them a lot. I never noticed any downside to them yet, since 1995.

The argument that fiber is needed to slow down the sugar is valid, but having a bit of fiber there is enough for me."

It is written about in All aboard the Banana Welcome Wagon!  which truly is the best of 30BaD, essential basic info. about the 30BaD way.

Juicing may be necessary in the most dire digestive problems only.

Here is Dr. D's take which you will also find in the welcome wagon/FAQ.

Is it okay to juice fruits and vegetables?

With a few exceptions, it is preferable to consume the whole food rather than to extract part of it and drink it. Drinking fruit or carrot juice without the pulp being present to slow the absorption rate of the nutrients can spike the blood sugar and throw your blood chemistry out of balance. It is far better to consume the whole fruit. One exception is fresh-squeezed citrus fruits, since a significant portion of the pulp is generally retained with the juice. The other "exceptions" are to blend fruits such as melons, and to make smoothies out of various fruits like bananas and strawberries. Liquefying the entire fruit in a blender turns it into a juice or a thick smoothie, while keeping the entire nutritional package together. Blending whole tomato, celery and orange together makes a thick, tasty, salad dressing.

Juicing is amazing. try it then make your own mind up.

no. you realize you agreed not to do that ;) ?

I eat my fruits whole or blended and much of the raw vegetables but it's a little difficult to eat 30 pounds of food including 10-15 pounds of vegetables a day without juicing some of the vegetables.

Did we sign contracts here stating we can't juice some of our greens? I probably get 5-10 times the recommended daily allowance of fiber as it is.

si, io capisco!

Just because it makes you feel good doesn't mean it's bad for you either.  ;)

But please don't juice wheatgrass. =&  gross

I always admired Jack LaLanne and Jay Kordich.

Why attempt to manipulate people by equating raw green juice to coffee, alcohol and cocaine use? That giant jump from trying to be very healthy (right or wrong) to coke head is so far off base.

I try to be real but I but don't use narcissistic intimidation to sway others into my beliefs.
