Ive experimented over the last 2 years and it seems anymore than 4 oranges gives me very itchy throat. I love oranges and they're in season at the moment and one of the only sweet fruits avail just now in our Aussie winter. Manderins definitely dont do the same to me.
Does anyone get a similar reaction after eating oranges?
Is it possible because they are not tropical fruit that we are not meant to eat that many?
I know DR's veiw on hybridisation and I absolutely agree. Sweeter the better. Could non tropical-citris be an exeption? Any imput would be much appreciated. Bliss and bananas x Kath
I sometimes get a rash when eating oranges but it's only happened with non-organic. But then even if they ARE organic...Sometimes even if they're sweet, if they weren't QUITE ripe enough my lymph nodes swell and my throat itches (sometimes my skin itches too and I get very bloated and don't feel well). I still eat them if that's all I can get but not if it gets really bad. I definitely notice a difference when I once had oranges I picked myself in FL vs the ones I can get in the grocery store. HUGE difference in digestion, sweetness, etc. and they did not make my skin itchy, give me a rash, make my throat itch, or make my lymph nodes swell.
Mandarins don't do this to me unless unripe and a little sour. What type of oranges are you getting? Navel, valencia, etc? And how fresh?
Thanks for the info Bristol.
Oranges are organic, look ripe, very fresh, sweet valencia. Maybe not ripe enough? Ill try a different variety and see how I feel.
