30 Bananas a Day!

It's a long shot - but looking for fellow hclf vegan in Aukland??

Just went to my fruit and veggie shop (in Silverdale, Auckland) to pick up my big box of bananas for the week & the lady who works there asked what I do with the bananas (I wondered how long it would take for that question to be asked haha) Anyway she was very interested in the lifestyle, we got chatting about it and she and mentioned there's another vegan girl that goes there and goes through boxes of them too...sounds like another hclf vegan!!! WHO IS THIS PERSON!! If it's you I'd love to chat :) would be awesome to have another in the area :)

It is not me. I am in auckland though in Parnell.

I'm super new to hclf and live near Silverdale (dairy flat ish). Have been wondering where to get bulk bananas from...do you go to the Fruit World?

Hi Adie! Depends if you're wanting organic or not :) If you're not bothered then there's a place in Silverdale (the new part) by the Burgerfuel and Nandos etc that sell 'over ripe' bananas for cheap! Otherwise you'll need to go in to Albany etc to get organic :)

Awesome thanks Louise, I actually stopped in there over the weekend and grabbed a few bunches to get me through. Will look into getting them from there regularly :)

It's not me either but I am in Auckland! How much do you get your banana boxes for?

I'm in Auckland too, though I don't think I'm your mystery banana box girl as I'm based on Waiheke. I was just at my local Raw (a veggie shop) the other day buying an epic amount of bananas and I got asked the same, by a checkout girl who then informed me once I told her I eat them of course, that bananas are one of the most difficult foods to digest (great sales pitch amirite?).

Of course I told her she was eating her bananas too unripe if she found digestion difficult, showed her the "old" (still unripe) bananas I'd grabbed from the bargain bin and said you should see spots before you consume. She was freaked out. And she works at a veg shop.

Anyway sorry for ranting, it's great to see so many kiwi people on here.

awesome, I'm always looking for good sources of Banana's and dates in Auckland :)

would also be cool to make some local vegan friends, not many of us around unfortunately!

Hi….

from a fellow auckland vegan.

I get my bananas delivered from the oxfam free trade bananas. It is 55 dollars for a 20kg box. I get my dates from mt wellington from the wholesale place. I can't remembered how much it is? about 100 to 150 dollars for a 5 kg box.

Countdown.....or is that too boring?!

Pak n slave? Same?
