I don't really have much time to exercise except when I'm working. I work as a server 3-4 times per week. Every time I'm at work i end up walking 10,000-15,000 steps per day which is like 4-5 miles. Is this good exercise? I'm usually walking pretty fast too.
I think it is, if you think about it, you're walking that many steps per day whilst working so you're constantly moving your body, aka calories being burned. Walking is better than no exercise. I used to hate walking yet loved running..its weird i know. I am still like that but i've started to incorporate walking more and i have a step pacer thing where it tells me how many steps i do in a day. I'd love to do 10,000 in one day, i average between 3-5,000 on normal days and the days where i've worked out and then had a busy day its anything above 8,000.
Keep on doing what you're doing! X
yes, walking at a fast pace is good exercise, so if you're walking like you're trying to get somewhere then that's good.
The main thing is that you're moving. Walking up steps I think is particularly good.
Keep moving. When you say you don't have much time for exercise even 10 minutes of very intense exercise is beneficial - such as sprints, a few sets of resistance exercise, push ups, sits up, dips etc - you don't even need to use weights just your bodyweight.
The take home message is - keep moving.
and you're carrying trays of food, bending over to get supplies, etc. Your body is moving a lot!
